Sadly, I think time is up for Sturridge as a number 1.

We've tried alot to fix his injury issues, including sending him to top specialists in the USA and allowing them to take as much time as they need to get to the bottom of it.

It's pretty clear that this is an issue that'll plague him for the rest of his career.

Great striker when fit, but no point having a guy around who only ever plays half a season (or less).

Spend big in the summer I say, and let Sturridge do what he wants.

Said a few times now we need to get someone big on Daniels level to basically be number 1 striker. This has to be rectified in summer. No excuses now.

Time to break the Andy Carroll record.

Big blow if Sturridge is injured, which seems to be the case. We've already lost two of our most experienced players in Gerrard and Skrtel for a few matches, and now Daniel, our first choice striker, is likely to be unavailable too.

Getting into the top 4 was going to be an uphill task even with these players, now, it's going to be even more difficult.

Players such as Henderson, Allen, Lallana and Sterling, who didn't perform to the best of their abilities against Man Utd are going to have to put in big performances over the next few weeks.

Why are people surprised or angry about this?

Thankfully we have Sterling (for a couple of months yet) to cover for him while our other three strikers, bought for 30mil, clean his boots.

I'm sure it's because he is one of our better players and the fact that he is constantly injured is annoying.

I hope we go into this summer as if Sturridge doesnt exist, and buy a proper frontline striker that suits our way of playing. Like we should've done last summer.

Sterling up front until the end of the season, no offence but Danny hasn't set the world alight since he came back plus we didn't do to badly without him from the first UTD Game.

One could argue he was playing for our most recent poor displays ( just saying).

He is by far the best we have when Sturridge is out.

Heartbroken about that lol. I suppose we'll need someone to take Borinis spot ...on the bench.

Think our injury and suspension woes are worse than people realise! We've lost Stevie and Martin suspended. Now Dan has another injury. Lallana had to withdraw from England squad also with an injury and Sterling has a toe injury, which could explain his below par performance against Man Utd. If luck is really against us, we could be without all these players, Stevie, Martin, Daniel, Adam and Raheem for the next few games!!

    Is anyone really surprised?

We all knew he was massively injury prone in the summer. And that is why so many of us wanted us to sign a top quality forward.

As Fowi said, we've got Sterling for now, which is great. Next season should be fun though with Ings and Lambert as our two best forwards.

Well I am absolute shocked at this.

Honestly, who could possibly have foreseen that Daniel Sturridge would be injured again before the end of the season? You would need to have some sort of black magic, witch doctor powers to predict this.

If only there was some sort of chance during the season to bring in extra players to bolster the squad and provide effective back-up to weak areas in the team. I feel like this really needs to be introduced. It would be ideal in, say...I don't know, January?

Oh well. Let's hope Raheem is bothered to put a shift in but I certainly wouldn't be after the terrible stick he got against utd. I'd be ready to leave.

Then my message to him would be off you ****.

If you can't be bothered to put in a shift because you got a bit of stick for being a part of the worst 45 minutes a Liverpool team have ever played against United then he's going to have a mental breakdown if he joins all the big boys supposedly after him.

And that's eaxactly what I'd do, laughing all the way to the bank whilst finishing above Liverpool season after season.

We had ten other lads on the pitch who weren't getting any stick so think about that for a minute.

Sturridge is a very expensive luxury player, we need 2 new top strikers PLUS Sturridge. Get Borini, Ballotelli, Lambert and whoever we have out on loan off the books and break the bank to get these players in. We will never achieve anything while we spend half the season with a kid like Sterling as our only viable option up front. It's bordering on unbelievable how badly we've got the striking department wrong this season.

This. I'll admit I was one of the people who thought Lambert and Balotelli would provide adequate backup to Sturridge. Could not possibly have been more wrong if I tried.
