22m is what was branded about yesterday morning.....with add-ons.

Sure the BBC must have their pounds and euros mixed up.

As much as Rodgers is disliked atm, he has a good track record of getting flair players to improve their consistency.

Buzzing with this signing, plus beating the Mancs to a player sweetens it and no-one start telling me they weren't interested, I won't hear it .

Little surprised with this, according to many fans on here Ings and Milner where it for the window and FSG would not be investing money this window, even more so with BR in charge.

No, we signed Firmino regardless of what happens with Sterling but obviously the popular consensus is that Raheem will be gone soon. Also we paid 22 million for him with the possibility of it rising to 29 million.

If we get Bacca and Firmino from the Sterling money it would be hilarious given both players even individually are much better for the team than him

What? How is it possible that we signed a player with no Cl football and with Rodgers at charge? And even one ending with "INO".

    welcome lad.

Btw don't know enough about him, but what's his favourite position?

Apparently the mix up in reported fees is due to third party ownership, so 18 to his club and 11 to third party. I don't care ha

    Nice compilation.

I know it's just a YouTube video etc

First goal is quality take and finish.

    Flashy, skilful, fast. Confident.

His celebrations show he has a bit of character. And is extroverted so this bodes well to settle with ease imo.

Great this signing is early in window, so be positive vibe around boards aswel.
    Very good!

But what's he like at wing back?

Firmino will arrive at Anfield following four-and-a-half seasons in the Bundesliga with Hoffenheim.

The forward made 151 appearances in league and cup for the German club, netting 47 goals, after joining them from Figueirense in December 2010.

To date, Firmino has nine caps and four goals for Brazil - including what proved to be the winner in his country's 2-1 victory over Venezuela in the Copa America on Sunday.

Couple of questions as I am an old git that doesn't know much about a lot of these foreign lads....

1 - Will he go straight into the first team?

2 - Where will he fit in?

3 - Where is he in standard/development against Coutinho and Oscar?

4 - What experienced well known player would you most compare him to?

Cheers in advance if anyone can fill in the blanks.

Great news, and a very good deal for us ... Like I said on the other thread, I am still not 100% convinced about him, but if he achieves consistency in his game, we will end up with a top player ... The talent and the ability is certainly there ...

I'm thrilled with this signing literally cannot hold my glee in, I was so dejected at the end of last season and the first load of signings didn't fill me with too much excitement for this one but Firmino really has really brightened my day in the office!

Yeah I like him, not a like for like replacement but for mine, offers more than Sterling does. Good combination with Coutinho if the Copa American games are anything to go by.

Neymar among others can't take his hands off Coutinho so I think Cou is well liked in the Brazilian squad. I think Coutinho mattered in this deal for Firmino.

Whoever is in charge of negotiations is doing a fine job. If it's Ayre, I applaud him.

We seem to be going about Transfers in the right manner - for the first time in years WE'RE NOT WASTING ALL SUMMER, instead, we get in quick and get the players before they are snatched.
Absolutely agree. And not before time as well. But is certainly is refreshing to see the club take the bull by the horns and show some aggression in the transfer market. Halleluja!

In the sense of actually getting the player yes, in terms of what we paid for him then not really. It seems we offered a fair bit more than United and City did.

Don't we have a problem of underbidding?

Under bidding and over paying seems to be our problem.

We always have a problem according to some. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. If we don't pay the extra couple of millions for Konoplyanka and co, then we're cheap. If we pay the amount necessary to fend off bids from Utd and City for Firmino, then we've done a bad deal. You can't make this stuff up honestly.

We've done this before (paired players up from the same country)

Coates was brought in for Suarez.

Pretty much the biggest factor in a player not settling is if his family is unhappy.

    Exciting signing, completed swiftly.

Need more though ... two more purchases of this standard and I'll think we are back to being in decent shape.

Certainly a good piece of business, for once. Looking at his numbers he certainly contributes in what is a pretty strong league now in Germany.

Certainly happy with the signing and better than buying bang average english players for the same price. We can now let sterling go with a wry smile on our face. Selling Sterling with a direct replacement and 20+m still in our pocket. Yep take that every day.

For me generally whats decent is that when the next manager comes in (i still expect BR to be gone by Xmas) he will have some decent players to work with.

Are you seriously moaning about this deal?

By the way, whatever Man Utd offered for Firmino was obviously not enough, since he is a LFC player now ... Like I already said on the other thread, we tricked them nicely into paying 31 million for Depay, and we got the better player for less money ...
