Liverpool Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of Roberto Firmino from Hoffenheim, subject to a medical which will take place immediately following the player's participation in Copa America 2015 for Brazil.

The 23-year-old has agreed a long-term contract with the club.

Firmino will arrive at Anfield following four-and-a-half seasons in the Bundesliga with Hoffenheim.

The forward made 151 appearances in league and cup for the German club, netting 47 goals, after joining them from Figueirense in December 2010.

To date, Firmino has nine caps and four goals for Brazil - including what proved to be the winner in his country's 2-1 victory over Venezuela in the Copa America on Sunday.

Having basically followed him on a weekly basis at the Bundesliga, I have to say this is a good signing and hope he will fit immediately in our system and start "firing"........

Didn't know of him a few months ago, but that says more about my lack of foreign players I guess. Hopefully will settle in quick and make an instant impact because that is what we need now. Also seems fairly sure that Sterling will be sole, so plenty more funds to sign up a top striker and other positions we need.

    YES!

*********** made up this lad has signed.

Finally a quality signing. This guy should settle right in.

I suppose signing Firmino pretty much rules out signing Inter's Kovacic but I think we have got the better player.

I hope we get a DM now, maybe in the form of Illaramendi to replace Gerrard, get a Striker and bring in Clyne for RB. That is a pretty good summer to be fair.

Sterling out to fund the rest.
    Huuhmhmhmhmmm. Come at me bro.

    Brilliant!

Next news will be Sterling to City for 48.5m, if the same sources who said the Firmino deal was done at 8am yesterday, are correct.

I personally think that we won`t be signing anymore "strikers" now

We have Sturridge.....Ings......Origi......Balotelli (Lambert, Aspas and Borini will be sold) - Firmino can also play up there if needed.

Next priority is a right back (Clyne maybe), followed by a top DM (but I doubt this will happen, as Brendan already thinks Joe Allen is the answer there)

    Boards will be buzzing today.

Exactly what we needed to add to a somewhat bland squad, a nice bit of flair, confidence, and skill. Whole squad already looks stronger. Nice boost for coutinho might push him on further.

    Cool trick shot from firmino

Have Liverpool sacked some of our Transfer scouts / chiefs as well as Pascoe and Marsh?

Whoever is in charge of negotiations is doing a fine job. If it's Ayre, I applaud him.

We seem to be going about Transfers in the right manner - for the first time in years WE'RE NOT WASTING ALL SUMMER, instead, we get in quick and get the players before they are snatched.

Nice! I've read good things about him from many on these boards. This is definitely the type of signings we need.

The club have finally learned Just pay the money and snap the player up sharpish. Great signing and if we sign Bacca now then I'm going to be an extremely happy man. Strong reports that we're in talks with Inter about Kovacic as well. These are the type of players we should have aimed for last summer but better late than never. Clyne, Llara/Kovacic, Firmino and Bacca and thats what you call a phenomenally successful transfer period.

But we are in talks or made contact with Bacca's and Rondon's peoples. So I think we are going to bring in another striker. Firmino I think will be used on the wings myself.

Know nothing about him but most fans seem very pleased so that's good, reading a few of the comments I was trying to work out who is nearest shall we say rival is, would I be right in saying Lallana or is he more of winger.

WOW! I bet we got tangled in a bidding war. It sure seems that way. Do we definitely need to sell Sterling now?

    Nice compilation.

I know it's just a YouTube video etc

First goal is quality take and finish.

    Flashy, skilful, fast. Confident.

His celebrations show he has a bit of character. And is extroverted so this bodes well to settle with ease imo.

Great this signing is early in window, so be positive vibe around boards aswel.

He is a AM by trade, who can also play as a CF. SS.
