Good one-handed catch by the Oman fielder - leapt like a salmon. No idea why they faffed about with replays to see if it carried - was clean as a whistle. Ireland 48-1.

Jeez, that would have been a very lucky / unlucky stumping

Oman doing relatively well here, although we need to see how they bat .. Ireland will be lucky to get to 160 now .. currently 118/4 with 4 overs left.

Thought it was a bit low myself, 73/1 after 10, lost their way a bit IMHO. Oman in danger of upsetting the applecart, should be ahead after 10 (70/1 after 8.5) and could be the first side this competition to chase down a target. EDIT : ahead by 1 run after 10 overs at 74/1

After 15 overs Ireland were 112/2, added a modest 42/3 thereafter which is the weakest of any team only 2-3 wickets down after 15. Interestingly the Afghans lost the same number of wickets in the first 15 and last 5 as Ireland, but scored 8 more runs in each spell.

World T20s - scores at 15 overs and off the last 5 (1 or 2 at the front indicates batting 1st or 2nd)

    1 Afghanistan 120/2 and 50/3
    2 Scotland 120/4 and 36/1
    1 Ireland 112/2 and 42/3
    1 Bangladesh 112/5 and 41/2
    1 Zimbabwe 111/4 and 47/4
    2 Oman 101/5 and 57/3
    2 Holland 100/3 and 45/4
    2 Hong Kong 91/3 and 53/3

Ireland slowing Oman down with two wickets taking out their batsmen when set, but wickets in hand may yet help their team of mercs

Must admit I didn't think McBrine was going to be troubling Oman when I last posted, his couple of wickets have left Oman in trouble. 101/5 off 15 overs, getting towards the almost ritually terminal 2 runs per ball situation that most if not all matches have produced thus far.

Well maybe their settled batsman will produce the old saying, you know, not over until the Jat(inder) laddie Singhs..........

On a statistical front, only Scotland of the teams chasing made a good start, the other three make up the three worst after 15 overs. Bangladesh are the only other side to be 5 down at that stage and added just 41 more runs, even those 4 down managed no more than 47 so looking terminal

EDIT : 'ere, who's this Ali fella? 25 runs off 9 balls including four fours and turning the game, what's gone before, everything, on its head. 23 runs needed off 18, anything more than 1-2 boundaries and I think Ireland have had it. What is it with the Alis hanging out down the order, I had a quick look see if he's much of an all-rounder as some think Moen is, looks like he might be something of one.

    Holy ****, Oman beat Ireland.

That last over bowled by Sorensen has to go down as one of the worst overs I have ever seen bowled in international cricket. Scary bad. He will have nightmares over that .. needed to defend 14 runs in the final over and does that? Shocking.

Begun with a no ball, balls a beauty in the free hit when it didn't matter and then balls a no ball with the ball nutmegging the wicketkeeper. I'm sure he won't forget this one even if he tried to.

Maybe Oman have enough mercs they'll say merci to everyone as they steal wins off them. Comfortably the most runs scored in the last 5 overs by any side, and only the second side to scored 100+ in their first 15 overs and 50+ in the final 5 (not that they batted out the 5!)

Could this pave the way for Bangladesh to cruise through the group, or might Oman cause a few problems and Ireland beat Bangladesh, Holland beat Ireland to rival Bangladesh for a spot? Might Oman be sly enough to have a side capable of taking the group by storm? It's one thing to win, it's quite something (else) to do so from 101/5 needing 55 more to win when you are a minnow.....

And 32 from 17 balls from Ali, how often does our very own Moen do this? (not often enough) 36 off 23 vs NZL batting #3, one of 3 batsmen to make 30+ , and a HS of 72no also batting #3 vs AUS helping add 135 for the 3rd wicket with Morgan (74) Maybe I'm thinking more his ODI batting down the order.

Now apparently some group in India has threatened to dig up the pitch if Eden Gardens hosts the India-Pakistan match.

Is Oman's Ansari not chucking the ball with his action, it's almost like a baseball throw?

When I was watching, I thought his style reminded me of Slinger Malinga, just not quite as aggressive .. if Malinga was never cited, chances are Ansari won't be either, for similar reasons.

Should extract some nice spin from the pitch after they do that, Ashwin must be delighted.

    Zimbabwe 106/5 after 14.5 overs.

I've been impressed with Watt's bowling in the past couple of matches for the Scots. Only 19 years old but seems to have good control and temperament.

    Zimbabwe finish with 147/7.

An okay score, but there were on for 20+ more runs than that at one point.

    Good bowling from the Scots.

Very poor response from the Scots though .. 51/5 after 9 .. too much for them to do to win this.

Is it 30 needed off 3 overs with 3 wickets in hand, either way the scots are making a fight of it.

I was going to type that a wicket could basically end the scots' hopes, went back to BBC to check the runs needed etc and Berrington is out. Looks like Zimbabwe will face Afghanistan as a decider who goes through, can't really see the Afghans losing to Hong Kong. This group should have a showdown, even if the Afghans did lose they could still beat Zimbabwe and qualify.

The other group may have an unlikely showdown when Oman play Bangladesh, even if Bangladesh beat Ireland and Holland beat Oman, they'd be on two wins which Oman could match by beating them as could Holland if they beat Oman, and if Ireland beat Bangladesh then it could be very open indeed.
People will believe what they want to believe
