Yeah true, fair point. I just think with his lack of focus, and the fair chance he'll mess up and get caught out of position, a 3 would suit him a lot more with the added cover. Not that I think we should revert to that long term.

Yeh, Klavan was even pinging some lovely balls crossfield at times, one in particular was exquisite, didn't know he had that in his locker.

He looked a broken man after the Spurs game but he's been nothing short of excellent recently IMO. Hopefully he keeps it up...

Yup. Really happy for him and wish he is out of the Bermuda Triangle for good.

The Ref was an absolute numpty regardless but Lovren should have never given him any reason to blow for a pen.

Dejan should have just stood his ground as Calvert Lewin bought a soft penalty to rob us of a Derby win today.

I don't think he even gave him a reason for pen. Lovren didn't ran into or shoved Calvert aside, he just stuck close next to him. Ofcourse there will be some sort of body/hand contact between those two, but last time I checked football is in category of "contact sports".
I really don't expect centrebacks playing throughout 90 mins with hands behind their back.

I bet that Lewin won't be called a cheat.

It wasn't a pen but why is Lovren going in aggressive, there was no Everton player within 50 yards of him so at best all the cheat was going to do was run away to the side to wait for players to arrive.

    We will be called moaners.
    Lovren will be called liability.
    Rooney will be called quality.
Fat Sam will be called tactical genious and someone who totally transformed Evertonians.
And Gallagher (Skysport so-called ref expert) will praise Craig Pawson for having a solid game.

You can bet on all these...

Yeah it was silly from Lovren, but because Lewin feller is English there will be no saying he dived or made the most of it.

Surely we’ve seen more than enough now?

The final pass of the game would be a fitting end to his Liverpool career.

Ronney caught him out of position with an over the top pass , and the rest is history.

He would be a good addition to any championship team. Hopefully there will be defence reinforcement in 3 weeks time.

rubbish. lovren and klavan were rock solid today. one bad decision from the ref otherwise it was a clean sheet. never a pen in a million years. everton barely got a sniff.

Made me think, I wonder if there's Atletico fans who only catch our games once in a while and think the same of Lovren?

    Yeah, fair point.

Like how Klopp thinks Lovren is a genius after his performance for us against Dortmund. In a friendly.

This. It was a very poor decision from a ref, who I feel, wanted to create that narrative.

I've criticised Lovren on many occasions but I don't think this is one. He really barely touched him and honestly, that should be reviewed by the so-called diving panel. But it won't be.

I’ve seen so many posters write “Lovren shouldn’t have given him a reason” - where have people been brainwashed by these words? They’ve all heard it somewhere and fell for it #sheep

It’s Lovren we must criticise! Ignore the fact that CL made a blatant dive.. If that is pen, we should expect them nearly every game and about 20 of them!

Lovren simply shouldn't have & didn't need to put his hands on the guy.

If this guy really is available on a free next summer, we should snap him up.

If, in the long run, he can be even a quarter of what Diego Godin is for Atletico Madrid, we've hit the jackpot.

It’s nothing like that, it’s just having a basic grasp of how the game is reffed, whether any of us like it or not. If a defender puts his hands on a players back in that situation, it’s going to be a penalty most, if not all of the time. It’s not about agreeing with the decision, it’s just knowing well that they’re given, and defenders know that.

The other thing it’s nothing like is a corner, which I’ve heard lots of now. Corners are obviously reffed differently to every other on pitch scenario, and rightly so too with so much chaos going on. This was an in the open, one on one situation, and Lovren should know better than to manage it like he did.

    Answer me this:

Would it have been a penalty if Lovren didn’t put his hands on his back?

Soft in the extreme that pen, funny thing is Salah's goal should never have been allowed on this refs logic, that was a far more blatant use of strength to win himself an advantage......fast forward Lovren with barely a feather touch on CL who was going nowhere and its a foul.

Just poor and a shame to see a few fans using this moment to slam Lovren again
