They spent all they had and more. When they went down I think they had the 7th highest wage bill in the league.

Their last owner put in a good chunk of his own money and still sold for less than he bought.

Guess I was still thinking of past history... Doug Ellis firing managers etc. Weren't there banners in the crowd back then as protests?

I think O'Neill wanted to make them the next Leeds but Doug didn't really fancy it. As it's turned out they've still gone the same way.

They were an OK side but over the space of a couple of summers lost Barry, Milner. Young and Downing - their whole midfield gutted. They failed to replace them and never recovered.

Guardiola on finishing 3rd/4th and without a trophy:

"In my situation at a big club, I'm sacked. I'm out."

What's the point of that? How can you say that without qualification?

It's an odd thing to come out with, sober.

“At clubs like Barcelona or Bayern Munich if you do not win you are really out – there you have to win by far. If not, they do not give you a second chance. Here, they have given me a second chance and we will try to do it, and we will try to do better than this season"

It's hard to argue with that though isn't it? He would certainly have been told what the expectations were at Bayern and Barca wouldn't he?

I think it's him either being, or seeming to be harshly critical of himself - he *should* be being sacked

Well, clearly he's saying he's not done well enough, but with the language he's used he's saying City aren't a big club.

He's right inasmuch as despite the new money City aren't as big - but I really don't think he should be saying that. They're still big.

He needs to qualify that by talking about how much more competitive this league is, and that it has more big clubs fighting for the prizes, or something.

Did he actually say that word for word though?

It is hard to argue against. But don't spell out that the difference, or reason for it, is that they're big clubs and City isn't.

I saw some conjecture on it - like maybe it had been paraphrased for sensationalist reasons.

Either way I think he has a point, but equally you can see why it's been jumped on.

I think with City being a relatively new 'big club' and having no real European silverware to point to as a marker - there's still a distinction between them and other contemporary 'big clubs' like Juve and Barca Nd Bayern etc. City fans might not like it, but it's true

He does, he's just chosen a very poor way of making it. He could have said all of that without saying they're big and implying City are not.

    True.

I almost see it as a dig at the other clubs though. But it's open for interpretation

I have heard that the manure knighted head honcho's are going to approach the shareholders to ask for 200 mill in a transfer kitty - this seems about right for Moanrinny and if this happened he will still complain about his squad being overstretched

They were awful, their keeper kept the score respectable. Arsenal should have won 6 nil.

Leicester City owners King Power International have agreed to purchase OH Leuven, the Belgian club says.

The second-tier club, located just east of capital city Brussels, narrowly avoided relegation this season.

Is Manchester United doing badly on purpose now because they don't want to finish 5th (and play Europa League again) in case they don't win the EL final for CL?

Well clearly they have given up on the league and are banking on winning the EL.
