Unlikely. What other reason would Sam have for leaving other than he's not going to get the backing in the market he wanted?

Why can't we get Defoe? Could do with him for the cup games. Him and Studge would be a fun partnership for a season.

I would say moneyball says we can't sign Defoe - wrong side of the money trap with his age....

Guess Pacman Sam has fallen out with Parish and the board over vision and the way forward
probably back off to Sunderland now...

We are not an elephant graveyard and he's no Ibrahimovic to say the least.

On reflection, having seen Sam's statement, I'm prepared to believe him...mostly. It reads to me like it's a health issue - either his own or family - rather than anything political and significantly a retirement rather than resignation.

Still don't think it's good news for us in terms of Sakho but not necessarily the end of any hope of a serious bid from them.

But he still has pace and is proven - for a season. Wouldn't be a top choice, probably third, but the amount of games we'll have to play, we will need some reinforcements that won't burst the bank.

For 130k a week? That would make him one of our highest earners behind only Milner, Sturridge and Lallana.

Hopefully they won't, but IF ManU win tonight, do they go into the Group Stage of the CL or the Playoffs?

    Does it depend on coefficients?

If it does, do we have a chance, of going straight into the Group Stage?

If they win, straight to group stage. It won't affect us one way or another.

    Yes it will.

We'll be annoyed that they made it!

As said, a united win puts them into group stages.
We must win a play off in August to qualify for group stages.
The only thing that would have effected us in 4th was if Leicester had won CL - then we would have lost our play off position.

They should be in it. I want Liverpool to play'em in one of the rounds as we progress to the finals.

We don't want them in the CL because it will hurt their finances and sponsors. Players will also be less tempted to go to them if they keep missing out for the CL.
