Tin Star was a bit crap in the end. Spiralled into nonsense again. I watched it just to finish the season. Tim was ace throughout tho.

Pity. I do like Tim Roth though so when I get time, I'll give this a watch.

Yeah, I have these all downloaded on Sky but I have little urge to watch it, as I can just tell it's going to be a lot of style but no substance. The woman's 'what's wrong chief, afraid of a little crime?' line in the trailer put me off instantly, ha.

Have you seen his early films, he should be all over this!

If you've seen Braindead, you know what I mean without being graphic. Everyone needs to see this btw.

Ooh thank you Dave, if you could just casually mention this bright new thing you've met on the forum who writes and is factually hilarious beyond dispute

Yes I've seen that, not for many years mind. I forgot it was him that did that!

The premise is good. The story of how and why he ends up where he is is also fairly interesting. The whole thing descends into cliche soap opera though.

It's also annoying how anything remotely odd or abstract is met with nonchalance. At no point does anyone think "well, that's *********** weird, right?".

I'm completely over these quasi nordic crime thrillers.

Some really weird decision making throughout, by the characters and the director. I thought episode 9 was great though.

It's was jarring because I never bought for a second that enough time had passed between that and how we ended up at the start of the season.

Yeah maybe they should have spent some of the nice scenery shot money on CGI for Tim.

I've mentioned this before but virtually all of these Sky productions look absolutely stunning. I think they invest in shows that look great because they need to showcase Sky rather than the dramatic content of the shows themselves. They all follow the same formula now.

    The Next Jamie Vardy.
All about how he was forced to scrub dungeon floors with a toothbrush before he became a footballer.

    Sounds like an instant classic.

Hopefully they’ll hire R. Lee Ermey to play Ranieri in the sequel, at his tyrannical best.

Then Vardy can do him over for the greater good. It’ll be like Michael and Fredo all over again, powerful stuff.

I was not keen at all on the star trek after show or whatever it was supposed to be, I really hate how these shows that focus on discussing another show, have sprung up !
Just watched them - and I agree completely!

Generally glossy! Opening title song and sequence will take some getting used to. New Klingon look and feel is better than I expected. A few issues in that I didn't feel the relationship with the captain worked - too forced and squeezed in; not sold on 'sasha' yet but at least she seems to be giving her all and really into it.

Saw about 10 mins of the aftershow and thought "no, just no". They did mention that they are filming episode 15 that week which explains why netflix cannot release the whole series at once. It also means they might be rushing it to meet deadlines and schedules too. At least we know there will be quite a few episodes rather than just the standard 10 that is in fashion nowadays.

Never quite got the appeal of Star Trek.

Beyond the original series, of course.

I loved TNG, but never really cared for the others.

I did enjoy the first couple of episodes of Discovery though.

I saw a clip on YouTube with Stephen Fry where he stated Hugh Laurie told him that American shows will just throw money at any potential delays by shooting scenes late into the evening.

They also took about a week to film an episode of House.

It may also be par for the course that only half the episodes are filmed in case they decide to pull it due to poor ratings.

    s.
They'd make a fortune if startrek nerds weren't also tech-capable types who could download and share the show illegally for free. (yes i am stereotyping!)

Fair enough - I can see why it's not for everyone. Personally, I never really cared for the original series (beyond the films which i loved). I found TNG a bit hit and miss too but loved the rest. The whole thing suffers from way too much guff and filler.
