Absolute legend. The semi-final win vs Nick Kyrgios was the best tennis match I've seen this year. Kyrgios is starting to look like a future champion but if Federer stays fit he could actually get back the world No 1 ranking and of course there's the freaky prospect of him going for an 8th Wimbledon title.

It would be a big ask for Johanna to win the French. As clay is supposed to be the achilles heal for her all round game.

In terms of Serena. Johanna is 10 years younger than Serena so time may be on her side. Notwithstanding who is coming up through the junior ranks.

Can't say I have seen her play on clay so fair enough!

But oh my are we in some sort of twilight zone? Fed and Nadal in all the finals...

Nadal must be really looking forward to the French open, having now reached a few finals and lost out to Fed this is the one he will feel he is favourie to wn if he hits form.

Ha ha, the current situation in the Davis cup is a sign of things to come when Andy Murray isnt around, just dross left.
After he calls it a day, rest assured there will be more inquests in how come the LTA didnt capitalize on his success and use him as a catalyst to produce world class tennis players (not that they ever have).
They can import as many plastic Brits as they want but it doesnt disguise the fact that the LTA are useless.

Just have to flag up a seriously good new talent in Marketa Vondrousova who won the Swiss Biel women's final yesterday. At 17yr old this Czech teen showed the sort of natural tennis ability and game that has future Grand Slam player written all over it. She was just awesome throughout the tournament.

It was only her second WTA tournament and she beat ranked players on her way through and won eight matches in total and did not drop a set in the main draw, becoming the youngest winner of a WTA title in almost two years. Fantastic start to her career and definitely one to watch for the future.

Bizarre events at the Fed Cup

With Serena out of the picture for the rest of the year, it's a golden opportunity for Konta.

Anyone else watching Murray v Del Potro?
First set lasted an hour and 20 minutes and went to a tie break which Murray won.
    Really good match.

Think Nadal will win this though...

Imagine suddenly looking at the last 2 slam finals...Fed and Nadal...you would think it was some kind of time warp

I've no problem with tennis on TV, but why the fc uk do they have to do blanket coverage and take up an entire channel.....? Not that BBC (Wimbledon) is much of a channel these days, but ITV4 latching on to Roland Garros is just another programme they can spoil what was a good channel with.

Put it on secondary channels, BBC2 or BBC4 or 'red button', ITV3 or nowhere. I'm sure there are people who want to sit and watch it for 2, 4, 6+ hours in a row, and I'm sure they can go on secondary channels.
People will believe what they want to believe

You'd think wrong. Thiem is the only player to beat Nadal on clay this year.

Indeed. No way Rafa is going to stroll through this next game and Thiem looks well up for it. Good pairings for these semis.

yeah, but he was astonishing from the second to the last set of today quarter final match,

I see him playing another hard fought encounter over Wawrinka in semis and come off it victorious and ready to challenge Rafa Nadal as clear underdog,

by the way, well done Andy!

he's gone further the most rosy expectations given what were the premises at the start of the tournament,

He's dogged, determined and has an indomitable spirit but unless he improves with his first serves, I think he'll be out today. You shouldn't be able to win a grand slam with such an inconsistant service game.

Brilliant Women's final, great comeback by Ostapenko to win. 1 set , 0-3 and 15-40 down. Down 1-3 in the final set too. Unbelievable hard hitting for such a youngster. 54 winners.

1st unseeded Womens winner I think of the French Open.

Super final and one that I watched to a conclusion such was the standard of play. Yes she's young and made a lot of unforced errors but she was brave and spirited and delighted to see her win. Reminded me a bit of Becker's attitude when he won in '85 (I think)
For once the men's tomorrow has a lot to live up to tomorrrow

Yes if she can cut down the unforced errors and improve her serve she will be a force in the game. Delighted she won too, I'm part Latvian (Gran/Grandad) so always look out for any Latvian sport stuff, which is very rare anything is much good though.
