A new thread opens with the news that Serena Williams is out of the US Open, beaten 6-2 7-5 by 10th seed Karolina Pliskova.

Pliskova will now play Angelique Kerber in the final, Kerber ended unseeded Caroline Wozniacki's run in their semi final winning 6-4 6-3.

Novak has never won a major without beating any of other "big 4".
If he wins the final it will be first time in 13 slams. Just to show how "easy" he has got it so far.

Yay Kerber won. What a year for her.

Wawrinka will be tricky tomorrow for Novak. Novak's had a weird tournament though. Quite annoyed I won't be able to watch that!

Great battle so far between STan and Novak, I'm not sure Stan can last the pace. Novak has taken the first set.

Stan on top , Novak taking medical time out because he knows he's losing so he's making up an injury he doesn't have.

True that. What a great little career he has carved for himself over the past 4-5 years. Isn't he coached by Norman? He must be one of the best coaches around after his contribution to Soderling and now Wawrinka.

As for Novak, he never really deserved it this tournament. I love Nole but his attitude and actions can be quite ******* sometimes. He's been a bit weird since Wimbledon anyway.

That one handed backhand up the line from Wawrinka is a killer when it's on form.

Stan really is the man. Rises to the big occasion every time and shows plenty of bottle.

Wawrinka was by far the fittest player in the tournament ... and didn't suffer from blisters like Djokovic did last night. Great battle which was won by a very tenacious Wawrinka.

Wawrinka has definitely proved me wrong these last 3 years.

When he won the Aussie Open in 2014, I had it down as a Costa-Gaudio-Johansson-Cilic type one-off that would never happen again. Because for most of his career he's been a journeyman. But he's since won the French and Us Opens overpowering Djokovic in both finals and is very much one of the elites of tennis now.

3 grand slam titles in the Federer-Djokovic-Nadal-Murray era takes some doing.
