So..put this on wrong thread, here goes again: Paradise Papers!?

    What we thinking?

180 billion roughly of tax sheltered away that could be greatly assisting world economies, the world elites hidden wealth laid bare.

Doesn't make for good reading at all., a sickening reality.

No doubt legal justification will be the main defence, not the blatant moral issues at play here

Glad to see companies like BrightHouse listed too - Any company that has extortionate rates like their rent to buy should be exposed

The problem is it's not illegal to have money offshore. It what you do with them that is the grey area

Parasites nothing more, makes me laugh when people claim they deserve respect because it's their country were allowed to live in and such nonsense, the sooner we wake up the better

The Queen is exempt from paying tax...but pays the equivalent amount voluntarily.

In the Queen's case this is more about the ethical side of the investments made on her behalf.

One. And got him late. Needed to fix my life first.
My sis. Have four and my brother three. My mother was from a poor home, she also have arthrosis due to hard labour all her life to feed her children since my father is a gambler. I grow up in a little crapy apartment sharing the room with my brother while my parents slept in the living room. So i know what desperation is.

It does indeed, more to follow.

I can see this quickly becoming all about the Queen, but as you say it's more about the elite generally & the massive moral issues at play here.

The monarchy is a minnow amongst the super rich. Try the Duke of Westminster who owns half of London and is worth around 9 billion.

Yes but the people who make the law are benefitting along with the very rich. The law is wrong but it's not in their interest to change it.... up to now

    True.

I can't see for the life of me, why it should be legal to move earnings you haven't paid tax on out of the country.

There are plenty of ways to minimise tax on self employed type earnings...without cheating the system like this.

    It's a scandal...and needs to end.

Not sure as there has been any indication of potential motives. However 3 Chinese students have been injured by someone in a car near to Toulouse France.

    The man has been arrested.

We can do the same. We just don't have the money. We should begin to play golf with the right people

When the very rich move money to hide them from the tax department, then it becomes illegal. The problem is that is almost impossible to catch them.
Also its not the only way to avoid paying taxes. Both corporations and individuals are imaginitive when it comes to avoid paying taxes. Best example is holding companies. They produce nothing, earn a lot and benefits greatly from legal tax evasion.

Bob 'Feed the World' Geldoff handing in his freedom of Dublin award with media in protest because some other guy also has one was quite laughable. Has he nothing else to do?

It's a worry when the army takes over.

Unless resolved very quickly, the situation could get very messy.

Out of the frying pan into the fire....

Although when power is held via non democratic means and corruption, an army coup is no different from the militia than support the governing party - they just drop the pretence of a functioning state
