4 hour geography exam or trip to Spain? Guess it'd have been a bit hard to bunk off school sick.

but may be he'll be back for the 2nd leg.

Exams are excruciatingly painful, football is more fun.

27 and Passed Away - RIP

The sudden death of Derry City footballer Ryan McBride is dominating Monday's front pages.
"Derry City captain found dead in bed", is the headline in the Daily Mirror while the Belfast Telegraph and Irish News both reflect on "shock" in the football world.
Tributes have poured in for the 27-year-old, the papers report, after he was found unresponsive on the same weekend in which he led his side to a 4-0 league victory.

Professional footballers are to be encouraged into a second career in refereeing by an initiative to be set up by the Football Association and the Professional Footballers' Association.

Good luck with that one! You won't get any from the top 2 divisions anyway! Too much cash in their pocket - the rest like to criticise but won't take it!

Quote of the night before the England game by Ian Wright regarding Keane - "if he keeps working and learning he could be better than Smalling and Phil Jones!" The others - Giggs, Dixon and whoever the presenter all said in unison - "really!" My god, talk about low expectations! Maybe we shouldn't even look at him now if that's what the pundit experts reckon!!

UEFA to consider new legislation to address the stockpiling of players

I hope they come up with something, I think this is a major issue.

In the Premier League, Chelsea had more than 30 players out on loan earlier this season, while in Italy champions Juventus have more than 50 players loaned out.
    That is pretty ridiculous.

If you look at Juventus transfers, they loan out over 50 players pretty much every season.

Making 120+ deals, in and outs, every year.

It's a ploy to get around FFP...and to weaken the loaned to club, when the sides meet.

Chelsea also filled their books with players prior to the FFP clampdown, to allow those players to be used to offset their continued over spending.

Do they still have that weird co-ownership of players thing in Italy? Never understood the reasoning behind that.

3rd party ownership is banned by FIFA when it comes to new deals...and existing 3rd party deals must end when a player is transferred.

How this works with loans...I'm not sure.

Good - maybe youth will have a chance now..... The Man City's and Chelsea's are stopped from stockpiling players so they can't hurt them....

Shame though - we never got to manage our squad effectively through the loan system - A Sterling or Lukaku every season would of been nice

Is another club considered a third party though? Sell on clauses are effectively retaining a share in a player and still permitted, so it's external third party ownership that's forbidden.

Nah not 3rd party, they had (have?) a thing where players are jointly owned by 2 clubs, and if a club wants to buy the player outright they have to outbid the other club who co-owns him, although they both have a chance to bid (the bid amount is kept secret from the other club) at the end of every season I believe. It's all very odd.

That isn't ownership...just a clause that allows a further payment in a contract.

Ownership means that that party has a say in the transfer

Most players are owned by 3rd parties anyway...the bank!

I'm pretty sure that is now illegal under FIFA rules.

And this loan madness is probably an attempt to circumvent it.
