To win the lottery (like, a BIG win) so I can go in to work, give my colleagues a million quid each to resign on the spot and leave our management in a total panic. Now whose sorry you didn't treat us with more respect, jackasses. :tonguegrey:

Meanwhile, back in reality....nah nothing really.

May be it's the 'Date'.1st of Jan,so easy to remember.
If really making a promise to self,a random date helps immensely.

P.S - I would like to quit smoking completely, done a few times over the last ten years for long periods and don't smoke a whole lot but this year hopefully i'll be able to stop lighting it up completely.
Having now written it here,i feel more accountable.....so hopefully i will be conscious now to a greater extent.

Spend more time with my dad before he reaches a stage where he no longer knows who I am.

Same here, Vijay. Cigars are my weakness (not big ones - just panatellas). But they cost too much these days, and i really should cut them out. The plan is to cut them down... get used to that, and then do without.

Apart from the usual I think I will try smiling more - apparently it makes you feel better regardless and if done right you don't look like a complete psycho but actually welcoming.

Might try cutting down on electronic devices too..

I've been there - squeeze in twice as many ciggies before the arbitrary quit date...then expecting that last drag to be special but feeling like an anticlimax...

Quitting isn't hard if you keep yourself busy with interesting things - its seeing someone light up on TV - that initial flame - that is tempting!

    Hate preachy quitters though

The psychological/habit aspect is a significant factor. Whilst a smoker, one doesn't think about cigarettes/cigars between smokes. When stopped, however, or cut down... the brain is constantly saying either 'you can't have one' or 'you can't have one till such-a-time.'

And that can get awfully frustrating!

Don't believe in them myself, and don't think I ever kept one that I was encouraged to make as a child. If you want to improve yourself in someway, you'll do so at a time when it's important to you, and your determination and motivation to do it are in place. To just arbitrarily choose a resolution on the 1st of Jan is an exercise in futility, and doomed to failure.

Relaxing a bit more and not letting things that are out of my control get to me. That and getting everything I want... NOW

They will certainly do you harm in combination.

But there are times and places for medication...certainly if it's on prescription.

Weren't you judging people who drink a few months back in another thread? Saying they only drink because they are sad?

Not arsed debating it at all, just interested that's all

I have not drank for an age, I have not had any medication off the doctor for a while either.

Being bipolar makes it very hard to function normally, I am not stupid, I can see that I am very hypocritical and I say some ridiculous things at times.

The meds just turn me into a cabbage or make me worse.
