Marco played absolutely superbly and came back valiantly. Who knew that was coming.

As for this evening, Liang Wenbo is just shading his match with Stuart Carrington 8-7 at the moment - it's difficult to choose an outright winner here so far.

Liang Wenbo found some form at the right time, winning 10-7 in the end and going on to face Ding Junhui in the second round.

Graeme Dott with a 6-3 lead against Carter which was my other upset prediction. Hopefully one comes off or ill look a right ****.

McLeod beats trump 10-8. Don't think anyone saw that coming.

No that was a complete surprise to me too -Chris-, I doubt that anyone predicted that either.

As for tonight, Barry Hawkins currently leads Tom Ford by 7-2 overnight. It's a fairly scrappy match overall, not one for the purist.

He was 12/1 I think to beat him before the match started. Unreal odds.

Dott beat Carter as well. Dott will do well this year I think, tough player, likes the worlds.

I've had a sneaky little bet on Murphy, another who likes the worlds. 16/1. If he can beat Ronnie he's got half a chance.

Good start for Ronnie. Bit of a scrappy first frame from both though.

Is there anything more annoying than people shouting "go on Ronnie" every time he comes up to the table?

3-1 Ronnie. Murphy will need to dig in and make this a bit scrappy.

It's great in latter stages but when it's done from his first visit in the first frame

Ronnie looking reasonably good but Murphy is clearly struggling at this point with a 6-2 overnight scoreline. Shaun will need to improve significantly tomorrow if he wants to win here.

Wilson into the quarters. Played well against Bingham there who dug in till the end. Was unlucky not to get a 147 as well. Good game.

Yes Bingham just got slightly out of prime position for the 147 didn't he, such a shame. Wilson however looked very promising indeed in what was an entertaining match.

Higgins looked good didn't he KennyRodgers, very sharp indeed, you wouldn't want to face him that's for sure.

Allen also played well and was a little unlucky to lose I suppose.

Currently watching Selby leading Xiao by 5-1 and looking very much at home on the table out there.

Higgins looks back to his best alright. Clinical when he gets in, and his tactical game has always been better than anyone. A Higgins v Selby final would be quite a spectacle for the snooker purists

Now you're talkin' KennyRodgers! That would be an amazing match, although I wouldn't rule out Ronnie just yet either...

As for tonight, Selby leads Xiao 6-2 overnight and looks very strong.
