Is Akani the first Thai player since James Wattana?

That blue was so cruel, but it's a brilliant match this one.

    It's anyone's now isn't it.

What a game. The interview with the two of them at the end was great. Potential superstar right there.

For sheer drama that was possibly the best match of the tournament so far. Some wonderful pots, especially from Sunny Akani, who looks every inch a star of the (near) future. Superb, nail-biting snooker.

Yes the thailand player seems like he's going to be an accomplished break builder, able to play most of the shots

Ryan Day leads Mark Joyce 5-4 in a closely contested match. Ryan has seemingly upped his game in the last couple of frames and is looking strong but Joyce is a fighter.

Ryan Day makes it through to the semi-finals with a 6-5 victory.

Shaun Murphy is looking extremely strong here, leading 4-1 over Ryan Day at the moment.

Me too, it could be a truly monumental scrap between two brilliant players. Definitely one to watch TheRiedle.

After Ronnie's awful comments in China a year or so back, I have absolutely no respect for him.

The days of Steve Davis and Jimmy White are ones I long for.

Ronnie's a bit loony I get that but he is also most naturally gifted snooker player I've ever seen, ever more than White and Hendry.

O'Sullivan leads Murphy 7-5 at the mid-session interval (first to ten). There's very little to separate the two of them so far.

Wow! When O'Sullivan turns it on, it really is something special.

To go from 5-5 to 10-5 seemingly without so much as a pause for thought, what fantastic snooker he produced during that period. Admittedly Murphy made a couple of small mistakes, but Ronnie was utterly ruthless, punishing his opponent decisively and emphatically each time.

When Ronnie plays like that you wonder how anybody could possibly stop him, he really is that good. This was his sixth UK Championship, equalling the record held by Steve Davis, and his eighteenth major championship, equalling the record held by Stephen Hendry, and he's scored over 900 centuries during his career, more than 125 more than even Hendry produced.

Consequently I believe he's the greatest of all time, Hendry included, but whatever you think his talent is both undeniable and apparently limitless, still somehow performing at his best at the age of 42. Simply breathtaking.
