Can anyone give an argument as to why Klopp should continue with Mignolet going forward. This season or next?

Maybe because Karius isn't that great either?

We need a better GK in the summer.

That's the point. If the only argument for Migs starting is that we don't have better, then clearly Migs isn't the answer. And if there's nothing between Karius and Migs other than experience, you have to argue that Karius will only get better with the more playing time. So why not play him.

Karius??? As in, that's the argument. Who's the lesser of two evils. Karius was good against Southampton, but Migs has been more solid.

I can see where you're coming from but at this moment I'd say Mingolet is having the batter season. Klopp is playing him so he must think so too. And there's a lot at stake so surely you go with the keeper in better form?

    Next season? No.

This season? Might as well toss a coin and whoever calls right plays. I don't trust either of them.

It sounds like a star wars trilogy.

    Karius "I keep making mistakes"

Migs "That's because I am your father"

Yeah. They're hard to come by.

There's got to be much better than we have out there though.

sadly can't see us doing it. Klopp will have a lot of faith in Karius.

You're probably right about Klopp and Karius. And if that's the case we will probably see the back of Mingolet in the summer. If Ward was ready he could slot into second choice I suppose. Still though, Karius could badly do with discovering some consistency and form for next season.

Whatever the responsibility of others...those things are indisputable.

He made a complete arse of it...it doesn't mean he should be dropped or sold on the back of it.

And he deserves credit for keeping his head up and saving the penalty.

But he made a massive error and no amount of deflecting changes that.
And yet all the players being caught out by it means nothing. It was all Mignolet. Got it.

And of course he would have saved it if he was ready. Because that is the point Right?

He might run off to make a sandwich as Klopp gets ready to flick it, but Karius is stood in the hall so doesn't capitalize.

    v Sadio Mané (Southampton, 2015/16)
    v Theo Walcott (Arsenal, 2016/17)
    v Diego Costa (Chelsea, 2016/17)

He also saved two in a preseason shootout v Manchester City (2014/15), three v Middlesbrough (2014/15) and two v Stoke (2015/16).

He's bad plenty of bad moments too though (like last night's free kick, though our wall was dreadful). Negredo's goal in 2013/14, Fernandinho's goal last season, holding onto the ball for 20 seconds in a Europa League match that cost us a goal etc. Any keeper is capable of making some of his mistakes though, we've seen equally bad episodes from Reina, Dudek, James and Bogdan in the past. I think he's a better keeper for having competition from Karius, which he didn't have from Jones or Bogdan.
Cant have a keeper based on penalty saving only. Pens are generally rare. He needs to start saving shots! Too often we concede every shot on target with him in goal.
