Can someone please confirm that Chaffetz told reporters this morning there's no need to further investigate Flynn, that 'It's taken care of.'.

    I have a meeting now.

Would closer relations between Russia and the US be a bad thing?

Aye, he said it. He is essentially shifting the responsibility for any investigation onto the House Intelligence Committee. The HIC chairman has already made it clear that he thinks this is entirely insignificant. He also served on Trump's transition team and will not be going after the Administration.

    This is getting buried.

haven't watched Question Time for the better part of 2 years, so I guess not, and I certainly have never been in the audience for one.

But tell me, what is trying to be a decent human being got to do with being a do-gooder?

No, it wouldn't. But any improvement in relations has to happen on a bilateral level. It has to happen through mutual national interests.

The concern is that Trump and his people aren't negotiating with national interests in mind but are instead pursuing personal interests. Does that make Putin better disposed towards America? No, it makes him better disposed towards Trump, whose personal interests do not align with American national interests.

Wouldn't it depend on if it is for mutual self-interest or altruism. However, if it is one sided then it could be worse.

Right now, yes it would. Ask any of the NATO members that now have an overtly aggressive Russia on their doorstep that has repeated history of annexing other countries territory.

Add ontop of that a regime that has very heavy links to murdered journalists and dissidents, at least the ones they haven't locked up as well as a government that sees no problem in homophobic legislation, and most recently decriminalising domestic abuse.

Wife not got your tea on the table when you get home? No problem, you can give her a kicking and get away with it.

I just find it strange how now it is generally the Right that are supportive of Putin and everything he is doing, Reagan would be spinning in his grave quite frankly, and I can't stand him or his politics as you know.

Christ... There's no chance now though. Reporters, leaks, etc.... it's gonna happen. Can't put that many fingers to stop the dam from breaking. Just look at California.

Apparently Trump staffers are using a 'secret chat app' that erases the message as soon as it's read. This according to a Washington post report.

This is illegal, and the entire argument for why Hillary shouldn't have been elected President.

Yeah, it was more of a joke/timing. Reading the article, it says it last saw this ship in 2015.

Just, not great for hysteria on the internet.

But Russia apparently has deployed a Cruise missle, which violates the arms treaty.

Trump creates so much news that the Flynn story will fall by the wayside before the week is out. Flynn is news today, but in 4 tweets something else will be. All they have to do is start a new fire instead of pouring oil on the existing one. You won't hear any of them talk about it. They will treat it like it's nothing and soon it will be nothing. These things just don't snowball when it comes to Trump. Maybe it's the climate change

However, if Russia stories keep popping up and if they get even more serious, then it may become difficult to ignore.

Half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has been killed in Malaysia, South Korean government sources say http://bbc.in/2lLtWzW

wonder what Trump will do if Kim Jong-un decides he wants to be the craziest this week.

Simon clearly hasn't been able to distinguish a lie and an alternative fact.

Sec of Press Spice just said that they have been reviewing the Flynn thing for weeks. Then why did he lie on Friday about it?

Why would you let someone that 'may be susceptible to blackmail.' in and around the deepest secrets of a WH?

I think its in the interest of Natl Security that we are able to see what ties he has to Russia.

Because, its not a big deal when the big guy in the office is also subjected to it.

Been saying that since before Nov 8th. There's gotta be some baaad stuff in there if you can get away with publically discussing how you sexually assault someone and yet still don't dip that much in the polls.(euphemism aside.)
