Apparently, they got the story wrong, it is not 53 players, it is 53 pies, all eaten by Rooney apparently.

From my understanding, if he was on 150k we would be spending money that would basically hold us back in the summer for new players wages.

But we should probably be talking about this in the Lallana thread. Otherwise we're just taking over another thread with all this.

One year ago: Mahrez & Vardy had 34 goals combined.

    This season: 13.

Neither have scored since Dec 10th.

13 is about right for them.

They're both okay players who performed at a level they never have before and never will again last season.

Arsenal were nearly kidded into signing both.

They performed at a level they are capable of. The standard has been much better this year in the PL.

    That's not their level.

Vardy will never perform at that level again. Neither will Drinkwater, Morgan, Simpson, Schmeichel etc

    It was a freak season.

I think Mahrez has a generally high level. People forget that he was actually very good before last season, just not as phenomenal as he was in that season. He just looks like a player who can't be bothered to carry the team anymore.

It wasn't. They performed at a level they were capable of performing at. Nobody matched it. This season the standard has been greater hence why they are struggling.

This season has been consistent with their careers in general. Last season was an anomaly.

Players like Morgan, Drinkwater, Vardy etc are bottom half players who had freak seasons.

I struggle to be understanding of Mahrez. Whatever he thinks of staying, clearly refusing to show up for 98% of the season is pretty shameful. At least have some personal pride. I think he can still be good for someone....just don't see that someone being Klopp.

No, definitely not Klopp. I think he's just sick of being the only talented player in the team, a bit like what Alexis is going through at Arsenal, except he's not pulling his weight this season. Maybe he can go and be part of the new rich Milan or Inter teams. Think that would suit him.

It happens. Hazard was pants last season too.

He's still top player, but I'm not sure about his pressing ability.
