Liverpool Football Club has named Peter Moore as its new chief executive officer.

Liverpool-born Moore will take up his new role in June and report directly to the club’s owners, Fenway Sports Group.

The 61-year-old is currently chief competition officer at Electronic Arts, based in the United States, and will move to Liverpool to join the club in the summer. His nearly 10 years at EA have seen him in a number of leadership positions, including chief operating officer and president of EA SPORTS.

Moore has previously held senior roles with Microsoft, SEGA and Reebok. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Keele University in the UK and a master’s degree from California State University.

The appointment completes a 10-month transition plan by FSG and finalises the senior management structure at the club.

We've got the bloke from EA Sports? Our owners really do think this is FIFA (the game not the organisation).

Worse, it'll be the most efficient boiler in the range for 5 months, then it'll grind to a halt.

    So excited for this.

I'll probably have more fun watching my hamster roll around on it's wheel for an hour.

Not sure how this will pan out for us.

In the past, you might buy a computer game for £40-50 and that's it done.

    EA, though, now offer you:

    • The "full" game for £40-50
    • A deluxe edition with additional content for £80
    • A season pass for downloadable content for £30
    • In-game transactions

Basically, they rip you off. Let's hope he can make money for the club without ripping the fans off. Need to give him a chance.

Looking at his CV he's been all about profits for the Companies he's worked for. From Sega to Microsoft (xbox) to transforming the way EA make money (extra transactions like you say). He's never been about the consumer. I think this is a straight up business decision by the owners.

Conversation in the Peter Moore household after he gets home tonight:
Mrs M: And how was your first week in the new job dear?
PM: An absolute doddle, hope everyone is like this.
Mrs M: So, nothing much happened?
PM: Oh there was a bit of a fuss about someone we wanted to sign, but it was hardly worth worrying about. All over in a few seconds.
Mrs M: Oh I'm so glad you weren't concerned by it. It won't be long now until the fixtures come out for next season will it?
PM: Um, mid July I think.
Mrs M: Any idea who you think would be an ideal start to the season?
PM: Um, um. Southampton away would be my choice.

If we hit a bad patch of form, he'll ask Klopp to just reload an old save.

Another offering from the Moore's household :
Mrs M: Another good week dear?
Mr M: Yes pretty quiet. That thing with Leipzig has died a death. One of the players has hurt his back so I hear. The club's thinking of sending him to Spain to see if the warmer weather might help it. Don't know how long it might take. Another of our chaps has strained his thigh I think. Oh, yes there was also a bit of a hoo-hah again middle week from that chap I mentioned to you before from Southampton. Looks like he vaguely might want to come to our club. Don't think there's much in it though.
Mrs. :When does the season start?
    Mr M: Tomorrow I think.
    loyal since 1960.
