    SUMMARY OF LIVERPOOL'S PREMIER LEAGUE
RESULTS 2016-17 - IN RANKING ORDER

We've now played 8 of the other 19 teams both home and away - so how many of them did we come out on top against over the '2 legs'? Here's the summary...

    * Liverpool's score written first

    - So out of the 8 teams we've played twice, we've beaten 6 of them over '2 legs' and drawn with the other 2. No-one has beaten us yet on aggregate.

    - The teams we've scored the most against are Arsenal (7), Hull (5) and Leicester (5). Watford will join that list after we've played them the 2nd time as we've already scored 6 past them.

    - We haven't failed to score against anyone.

    - Every team has scored against us, with Arsenal, Swansea and Leicester scoring the most (4).

    - Last year the only teams to get the double over us were West Ham and Man.Utd. This year we still haven't beaten either of them, but at least we've drawn all 3 games, which is an improvement.

Here are the 11 teams that still have to be played for a second time...

    = 6 Man.City 1-0 3 +1
    8 West Ham 2-2 1 0
    9 Southampton 0-0 1 0
    10 Bournemouth 3-4 0 -1
    11 Burnley 0-2 0 -2

The top 4 in the list are all games we should now expect to win over the 2 legs.

One of the hardest ties is our next match, Burnley, where we're looking to overturn a 2 goal deficit from the 1st leg.

Man.City will also be a hard tie to win, as we take a narrow 1 goal lead to the Etihad.

So - whilst we 'improve' on some of our results from last season, we then proceed to unpick that with different teams the next?

Drop points all over the shop every season - just rotate the teams we get humiliated by?

Pour all your efforts into compiling a table of defenders who are pound-for-pound better than what we have.

Submit it to JK and the wrecking crew.

    Cheers.

    Sigh, I'll do it.

    Here's the attention you crave.

It looks to me like hard data which is reflected in our better premier league season this time around, which is presented in an interested way.

Perhaps everyone should take turns replying to your negativity, back it up please.

Darren keep up the good work. I used to like Tomkins articles to.

Anyway, it's not as if positive thinking is proven to breed success, oh wait..

    Cheers

Defence still kills us first thing that needs sorting out in the summer left back centre half and a goalkeeper first 3 through the door

    .
Our biggest threat is the team's complacency.
Id say all of our remaining fixtures bar the last one when Midds will be already down are potential banana skins with the stand out ones being Palace at home and WBA away.

Palace aren't a threat - we have a 2 goal lead from the 1st leg.

    - So Bournemouth become our worst opponents of the season and join Man.Utd as the only teams we haven't beaten at all, over 2 matches.

    - Bournemouth have also scored more goals past us than anyone else (6).

    - However, the 5 goals we scored past Bournemouth is only surpassed by the 7 we scored against Arsenal and 6 past Watford.

    - Our overall record now, over the 2-leg matches, is W8 D2 L2.

I'd take another draw with Southampton but I'd like 3 points from each of the rest.

We're so bound to lose to Boro.

Why? It's not as if that's our hardest remaining game.

We should definitely be beating Southampton at home - especially given we haven't yet scored past them in 3 attempts this season. Need to put them in their place.

We should definitely be beating Southampton at home - especially given we haven't yet scored past them in 3 attempts this season. Need to put them in their place.
    True.

They're the best team we've got to face on the run in.

I know it's at home, but judging by our last game in the cup.....

We were a different animal back then.

They were difficult, awkward and confusing times for everyone. It was like being a teenager.

We've had our confident, free-flowing, majestic phase for the first few months of the season.

Then we had the 'awkward teenager' phase - when our bodies were changing and we didn't quite understand why.

And now we're in our result-grinding phase - it aint pretty, but we do whatever it takes to get the job done.

    - Crystal Palace become the fifth side this season that we've had a win and a defeat against. They may have beaten us yesterday, but we've beaten them over the 2 legs.

    - They're also the first side outside of the 'big 6' teams to stop us scoring more than once at Anfield.

    - Our overall record now, over the 2-leg matches, is W11 D2 L2.

    - So Watford become our favourite team of the season. They're the fifth side we've got the double over and the team we have the best GD against (+6).

    - Along with Arsenal, Watford are the team we've scored the most against, with 7 goals.

    - We've now had more clean sheets away (5) than at home (4).

    - Our overall record now, over the 2-leg matches, is W12 D2 L2.

    - So Southampton are the only side we haven't scored against this season.

    - They're also the only side that haven't scored against us, in both league games. Middlesbrough could join that list though.

    - And they join Man.Utd and Bournemouth as the only teams we haven't beaten this season. West Ham could be added to that list next weekend.

    - Our overall record now, over the 2-leg matches, is W12 D3 L2.

Not just in the league, but in all competitions. Last season we scored against every team we faced in all competitions. On the flip side though, Augsburg were the only team who didn't score against us.

In the league last season West Ham were the only team we didn't score against. However they were 3-0 and 2-0 defeats not two 0-0 draws. So like last season, we only failed to score against one team, but two 0-0 draws and two points is better then a 5-0 overall loss and no points.

That's an improvement as last season everyone we faced in the league scored against us.

If only we could play Augsburg every week.

Teams have decided now that it's more fun to put 11 players behind the ball to stop us scoring, than to try and score themselves.

Yesterday was our first 0-0 double in the league, since the day after Rafa's facts.

    Good fact.

When was the last time we didn't score against a team 4 times in the same season?

    Against Southampton this season.

Before that it was in the 1971/1972 season against Leeds

Lost 1-0 away in the league
Lost 2-0 at home in the league
Drew 0-0 at home in the FA Cup
Lost 2-0 away in the replay

I wonder if the fraud Shankly was feeling the pressure in the season we finished 3rd, as that's 4 times he faced them without scoring, so they clearly had his number marked and his stubbornness was to blame as he thought he was right and knew better then the fans. Maybe his interviews or touchline antics if there were any were to blame for any saved penalties if there were any. Now to find a way to mention him being Scottish even though it's not relevant to the point.

    Good research.

I can't believe he didn't bring 2 subs on at half time, even though we only had 1 sub in those days.

At least Leeds actually scored a few goals, whereas Southampton seemed content to just stop us playing on Sunday.

If only they had not. Derby won the league, Leeds, Liverpool and Man City all finished behind by 1 point in that order.

Imagine the top 4 being separated by 1 point at the end of the season now, Sky would go into over drive. They'd get Jim and Jeff on the same show, to see who can combust the quickest.

    GOOOOOAL!

Oh dear my friend. Breaking News! Jeff has just broke, he has exploded, oh my. Here's the fud he was eating before the explosion, this just in Jeff, now this just out Jeff, and I can tell you the goal scoring has not stopped there, oh wow. There's been a goal in the game in Scotland, yay Scotland. Oh my.
