JK has said tonight that Henderson will not play against City nor will he go on International duty with England.

Mentioned today that he was still in crutches today. There was a rumour flying about that he had broken his foot weeks ago, but I was told it was false news.

Has there been a confirmation on what injury he has, just why is he still in crutches?

This will be a cracker of a game, I can see a 3-3 or maybe a 3-4 if bravo plays in goal.

    Is Firmino back for this?
Do we continue with Matip / Klavan or provided he returns, let Lovren walk back into the team?

I was thinking of JK considering a 3-4-3 formation for this one. Our midfield options are limited and I was thinking Milner should be on the bench with Moreno starting as a LWB with Matip, Can and Klavan/Lovren (if fit) as a back three. The pace City have on the wings is hard to contain with Milner as LB. I don't know how match fit Gomez is but something needs to change there. 4 in the midfield (with the 2 wide-backs) is also important to disturb Citsy's midfield play by starving Silva and Toure of space. What do you think?

    bring lovren back if fit.

    mignolet
    clyne matip lovren milner
    emre
    gini adam
    mane firmino phil

picks itself cos we have no options good enough to challenge the first 11.

dont feel all that confident about this one but maybe that will change as the game draws closer

If we contain Aguero, we'll have a chance.

    But I'd take a point.

    Last five in this fixture:
Manchester City 1-4 Liverpool (PL, 2015/16)
Manchester City 3-1 Liverpool (PL, 2014/15)
Manchester City 2-1 Liverpool (PL, 2013/14)
Manchester City 2-2 Liverpool (PL, 2012/13)
Manchester City 3-0 Liverpool (PL, 2011/12)

Manchester City are much better than they were when they played us on Boxing Day. The likes of Caballero, Aguero and Sané are in really good form. But this is the type of fixture we thrive under so hopefully another win on the cards.

You'd think they would want all three points with some feint hope of catching Chelsea, but they wouldn't want to lose to us, losing a fair bit of their point and game in hand advantage, and potentially leaving themselves in reach of Arsenal.

Might have been a little premature when that pundit said you "might as well hand the title to Chelsea now" a few weeks ago, but now it's looking more and more a precession rather than march to the title. Three sides in relegation danger to play at home, if they pick up just 18 more points that would force spudz or citeh to pick up 28 points out of their possible 33 remaining, and in their last 21 games in all competitions they've won 18 and lost just ONCE away to spudz with their two other slips a draw at our's and a slip up at Bumley.

Or to put more concisely, you don't get TEN points clear of the nearest rival with 11 games to go without showing exceptional form - unless you're talking SPL of course
People will believe what they want to believe

If we play the same team as yesterday I'd rather see us use a midfield diamond to get Coutinho in the middle, Origi and !ane would naturally move out wider to pull their defenders around. Would t be totally against Moreno coming in for Milner, I know he can be a liability but I think Milner's lack of pace could be exposed against Sterling and Sane.

I'm more worried about Silva to be honest. Matip has done well containing their strikers, but our midfield has let us down against theirs in and around our box.

    He's the one to watch.

How the **** can anyone want Klavan in the lineup after the last game I do not know. Hes an abysmal defender... if you can even call him that.

ManC have a tough midweek away game in Monaco, and they have a mixed record of results following midweek European games.

After the 6 group stage games, they have followed it up with 2 wins, 2 draws and 2 loses.
They didn't have a fixture straight after the first leg game against Monaco, due to the ManC-ManU game being re-arranged due to the EFL final.

Just like the game against Arsenal, you look at both the teams for this weekends game, and neither set of defence look too confident.

ManC won't change the way they play, so I think Firmino comes straight back in, and this is a game where the high press could be very effective.

    ---------------Migs

    Clyne----Matip----Lovren-----Milner

    ----Lallana---Can---Winj-------------

    Mane-------Firmino--------Coutinho

Subs: Karius, Ragnar, AA, Moreno, Lucas, Woodburn, Origi

Ragnar to drop out, if Lovren is available. Lovren has that bit more pace, which will be important against them.
Origi to drop out, but the closing down Firmino does could be very important.

klavan made a crucial block and played well for the most part. wouldn't want him starting for this next fixture

Klavan had a decent game against Burnley and Arsenal, not sure what you mean?

you're really letting yourself down with this statement. He had a good game against Burnley and Arsenal. 2 very different teams. Depending on how Lovren does tonight, he may start Sunday.

Klavan is miles above Lucas as a defender, and throwing Gomez in now would be worse than Lucas. Matip and Klavan have a good thing going. Lovren and Matip still have some understand to get through together, not quite on the same page.

Plus Lovren has always been pants at positioning/picking up runners.

Klavan played very poorly and he was spared the embarrassment by Can who was playing as an out-and -out CB for the most part during that first half.

Klavan was initially thought to be our back up CB, and now people are saying he's better than our supposed first-choice Center-backs. And the worrying thing is, they're probably right.

Are you serious? I think you switched the names. Klavan was the CB and Can was poor in the first half.
