Love milner as a person, by all mean. Love milner as a player? Kuyt work harder score in big games, 12-15 goal a season and he got pillored everyday here.

    Milner: LB
    Kuyt: Forward

Kuyt was also seen by many as the weak link in the team. And as we know, we need scapegoats to lambast on here, warranted or not.

Standards an expectations were much higher too, I don't remember Kuyt being the best paid player at the time though.

I don't think Milner is either. His basic is said to be 120k/week and 4m signing on bonus over 3 seasons. Sturridge and Coutinho should be on more basic salary at least.

Milner has done well enough for me this season considering the circumstances... Yes we need a LB, but that's not happening at least until the summer so Milner is it and for the most part he has done what has been asked of him and done it good enough for the most part

Do you think there is another LB in the league with a 120 k of "basic" salary?

Can't believe how the Citeh lot jeered him today.

I thought they were booing ironically to start with.

When it was still happening on 60' ...

Magnificent penalty to shut them up.

Brilliant penalty taker, unfortunately not a brilliant left back. Or CM, or anything.

He is an ex player that ran down his contract to go to another team and got a big sign on fee, of course he was going to get jeered. That's what rival fans do.
He took his penalty brilliantly though, Caballero is not an easy goalie to beat on the spot.

He's decent at all of it, not bad at any of it, and not great at anything.

He wasn't bought in to play LB though.

He was on more at City by all accounts, and how many LB's can play in all the positions Milner can, how many midfielders can play LB to a reasonable standard etc.

He only plays LB for us so that's where we can judge him, I don't think he is any better in any other position though, he is pretty mediocre at midfield so all things considered is probably better that he is stuck at LB, there is one thing that he does brilliantly though and that's taking penalties.

How many times did they get down our left. This can't continue next season. If we Roberto Carlos in the opposition half you could allow it, but he isn't.

City Boo at just about everything, from Champions League theme to model pro ex player who left to get himself regular 1st team football.

You know what I boo at?...

Their pathetic TalkSport adverts begging for people to fill their soulless excuse of a football stadium.

That is comedy gold right there!

He's done about as well as you can ask of a 30 year old midfielder in the position, and is better than Moreno.

But he can't be our first choice LB next season.

It seems Martin O'Neill, Bobby Robson, Roberto Mancini, Fabio Capello, Manuel Pellegrini and Jurgen Klopp all disagree with this statement.

But you know what DahoudAreYou I agree with you......

Couldn't believe it either. I thought it had to be something else going on but then after a while, it was obvious these idiots appreciate nothing that guy did for them for 5 years, was it? City fans aren't smart enough to see that its players like Milner who came there early when no one else wanted to, that helped build the foundation from which other top players arrived. And Milner didn't leave City, City left him. He walked away on a free because they wouldn't offer him a new contract.

I was too busy celebrating to see but I hope he actually did celebrate his goal and didn't offer that dufus nation any sort of respect.

I seem to remember that he was offered a contract but he decided to leave to be first choice in his favoured position?

After 7 minutes I was turning to my mates and pleading for Klopp to bring Moreno in to deal with Sterling's pace. It was ridiculous how easily they kept attacking that side - we only narrowly escaped 2 or 3 of those attacks because of off-sides.

And then for some strange reason in the 2nd half, Raheem just wasn't really on that right side anymore and seemed more central and at times on the other side of the pitch. I found that very strange as they didn't seem patient enough to stay with it. It was really awful...but Milner is a survivor, you have to give him that. Reminds me of that boxer who will take a beating for 15 rounds till you are wondering how they are still alive, never mind how they are still boxing. But then he stays with it till he can get a swing of his own later in the game. Gotta be one of the most mentally strong players around.

That PK though....oh, so sweet! Keeper could have guessed right and cheated to the right side a second before the kick and still wouldn't have laid a glove on the ball. Just a brilliant PK under the most high pressure situation!

I thought he came here to play his favored position AND be a starter but I thought it was made abundantly clear to him that his days as a starting City player were over.

Thought that's how it played out - am sure he could have stayed to be a squad player, I mean City don't care about paying him big wages to sit on his ass but he wanted to play more regularly at age28/29 whatever it was when he came to us, which I can understand.

Yes, that's probably what happened. Still trying to work out why City fans were booing the CL anthem the other day

Terrific penalty but thought he was massively at fault for their goal. De Bruyne had half the pitch to himself on that side and Milner barely jogged over to try and block the cross.
