In fact if your going to remember anything about Russia that's where Kvyat took out Vettel last year.

Although speaking of the track being 56% flat out McLaren are going to really struggle. Alonso may burst some blood vessels this weekend.

Thanks for the explanation -Chris-, I just wondered what specifically bothered you about it and I take your excellent point about it being a little sterile.

Nothing in its brief history so far particularly stood-out for me, it also seemed to be a bit of a non-event as I recall just as you say but cheers for the added details about the Vettel incident (I had completely forgotten about this).

Furthermore, as you suggest, McLaren are always going to struggle on a power circuit so I suspect you're right that they will have a difficult time yet again this weekend.

Hopefully we get a cracking race and I eat my words. I'm off this week which means I can watch the practice sessions which is a rarity for me so looking forward to that at least!

Vettel on pole and Kimi second in a front row lockout!

Bottas third very very close and Hamilton 4th a half second behind!

Bottas seems to have the pace to keep up with Hamilton over a lap but he's been missing the race pace so far. Hopefully he finds it tomorrow.

Alonso didn't even start today. McLaren are absolutely no where. Miles off the pace and actually looking worse not better.

Confirmed today Sauber will use the Honda engine next year. I cannot see McLaren staying with them. Alonso is fuming.

By letting Alonso do Indy500 they pretty much are.

They are fighting with Sauber for who will be the back markers. It's actually embarrasing for them. Alonso must be fuming with himself. He chose to leave Ferrari.

Overall I thought it was an interesting race, perhaps lacking a few spectacular overtakes but nevertheless a decent watch.

Congratulations Bottas on a superb victory, it was great to see the Ferrari of Vettel pushing him to the end which bodes well for the forthcoming races too. Let's hope Valtteri can continue to challenge Hamilton in the future which should yield some exciting action.

Anyway I'm looking forward positively to the upcoming races -Chris-.

Oh that's not so bad then... It's crazy how bad this engine is it has no power and no reliability. You usually struggle for one or the other, not both!

Yeah I liked it as well!

What does everyone think of Stroll currently? He is struggling, I think he's in way over his head in F1.

About time there was some exciting racing - it was in danger of becoming a borefest this season - made me even for a slight nano second wish Nico `coward` Rosberg was LH teamate.

I taped the Indy500 qualifying last night so going to give it a watch this morning. This will be my first proper foray into Indy racing so let's see how this goes.
