There's a few in the Everton squad like that.
A player that constantly goes in high on standing legs isn't an accident. He knows what he's doing.

    Cowardly and thuggish.

Don't see the Gerrard comparisons to be honest. I think some of you are forgetting how Stevie played at Barkley's age. Go watch old games of ours on LFCTV.

Not saying Barkley is a bad player but he's much more nervy and rash with the ball. I also never seen Gerrard attempt so many failed tekkers... The rare times he did, he'd pull it off whereas Barkley goes for style points a lot (with mixed results.)

    Absolute coward and scumbag.
Same could be said for Gerrard when he was younger.

Gerrard was pathetic in those challenges too. Absolutely no need for them.

Difference is Stevie did those challenges along with influencing games.

Barkley does those challenges while letting people say he's got it all etc etc but never delivering.

By 23 if people are still asking questions it's unlikely to happen. He might turn out half decent but that's it.

That's not a bad comparison actually, Gerrard was always a bit of thug in these sort of games

Gerrard was sent off against Everton twice during his career.

And one of them was due to two quick bookings.

Barkley did three red card challenges this season.. there's no comparison.

There is nothing to figure out there, you either want to do it or you don't.

When I said these sort of games I wasn't referring to Everton alone.

Do you remember the last time he was sent off? Well, we have to hear a barricade of pathetic excuses here, hell, people even blamed Rodgers for no starting him so that had frustrated Gerrard and of course he didn't have other choice.

Alli is thrice the player Barkley is and I'm still ********** that we didn't close the deal on him. One of our biggest transfer plunders in recent history.

No doubt Gerrard has this flaw that he sometimes saw red.

However it more when he was younger than by the time he turned 23,24 he definitely learnt that he needed to control his emotions better. He was still prone to the odd red mist.

Barkley will have to go down the same path. However, he looked intent on hurting someone yesterday than actually playing football.

Gerrards two footed knee high challenge in the Derby was sickening.

We should buy him? No? Oh dear i thought this was another thread about someone we should buy.

Like Lukaku a few weeks ago.

    Terrible tackles...again.

Anyhow, He can turn and run so well...but he also loses the ball so much he is useless at times. Decent shot...seems to think he is a lot better than he is.

Still has lots of time to improve, but does not seem a smart player at all.

No you aren't... He is terrible player who offers absolutely nothing... Even Everton isn't his level... Another overhyped English player which is typical

Didn't say it wasn't. Thankfully he moved away from them tackles. Did a nasty one at Villa if I remember correctly as well.

However it wasn't constant, I felt like Barkley came out with intent to hurt someone yesterday. He had plenty of time to pull out of the Lovren tackle, but he didn't left it there on purpose.

The man's an embarassment. Gerrard was on another level at the same age. He hasn't done anything in about 9 derbies and them tackles are a disgrace. Overated, over weight and lacks a footballing brain to ever move on another level.

I never used to mind him until he started acting like a child with his leg breaking challenges. The way he tries to act innocent after them makes it all the more annoying.

I always thought he was overrated, however, I also think he has more talent than he shows.

Maybe Everton has stifled him, but he isn't showing anywhere near enough imo for what he could do. So sloppy and inconsistent.

Great engine..excellent build, good control, shoots and passes well with both feet

Whether or not he gets there... I hope he doesn't do a "Rooney" and excells at Manure

If he wasn't a bitter..I'd be all for bidding for him
I'm sorry but there is no way this lad is within a country mile of being as good as gerrard. He's 23/24 now??.... at that age gerrard was single handedly some might say winning us cl trophy and fa cups plus dragging us though league campaigns to qualify for the cl....... gerrard and Barkley should never be mentioned in the same sentence again

I would pay 50m for Verratti over 30m for Barkley
