He will be in and out of hospital for a long time grenny. When he had his op we got told to look out for a few things and unfortunately one of them has happened.
Looks like he has cholangitis which is an infection in his liver (bile ducts) His liver function tests are coming back very high so for now they're just treating him with antibiotics.
On what happens next depends on how damaged his liver is, we're hoping the antibiotics do the trick.

On the ultrasound they said his liver looks sorry for itself but that's to be expected after having his operation, it can take time to recover. If not bring the liver transplant on, Casey can handle anything thrown his way!!!

Glad to 'hear' you are so upbeat!! Have to keep your spirits up through what is obviously an exceptionally trying time for you and your family.

Yep, the body always takes time to rebound from any intervention - I am actually in the surgical / medical industry and see it on a daily basis myself - and time and some patience is obviously required here. Thinking of you guys from afar and sending only good wishes for a full recovery for little Casey.

    Thank you grenny!

We can all seem upbeat behind a computer screen We're trying to stay positive though as much as we can for our babies.

Some good news maybe!! He might be able to come home today. Since giving him the required antibiotics his liver function blood tests have come down so they may send him home with his antibiotics
They have to speak to the liver team yet though to see what they say.

Excellent .. recovery is always aided when in more familiar surroundings.

Come on, little Casey - I expect to see you playing for LIVERpool FC in the 2036/37 season, young lad!

Stop ittttt.. After everything he has and will have to overcome he gets to play for Liverpool FC! I'll be happy just getting to kick a football about with him but who knows.
I'll be making sure football is an option for him though if he's able

He's smiled through it all Kas. Especially when a nurse is around There just seems to be something very special with babies who have had to endure so much.

I haven't really been able to enjoy thoughts about playing football with him because it's just been a lot to take in. I am doing so now though, thanks grenny!!

He'll be a legend for us one day For me he already is.

    Not many can say that.

My niece's son was born with half a heart;he had two major operations before he was four months old and he's always been one of the happiest kids you could meet.

So we just got back from the specialist.. To cut a long story short they think Casey will more than likely need a liver transplant in the next 12 months or within. As always we just deal with it as and when things happen. Casey is fine in himself, smiling as he did from the start. <3

It's unreal how babies cope with such things yet us adults can't cope with a cold. I can explain in a bit more detail another time, just feel a bit poop right now.

I must say that I think little Casey is lucky indeed to have such doting parents to look after him. I appreciate that you must be going through unimaginable anguish and worry MySonCasey but are somehow showing a brave face through it all - I suspect the little fella takes after his dad in this regard, aswell as the football way!

Take care mate, everyone on these boards is supporting your efforts and I would like to wish you all the best as a wonderful LFC family.

Sorry to hear the latest update isn't as positive.

Like you say though, kids are very tough cookies and he'll be taking this in his stride.

All the best to you and family mate, stay strong x

Absolutely agree with ever-red-e's comments here, especially the last sentence.

Are you and your wife going to counselling yourselves, even if just to have a sounding board to vent at and let your feelings out, MySonCasey? I have always found it really helps in times of stress and obviously you guys have had your fill of that.

All the very best - thoughts and good wishes are with you.

A good point Grenny, as much as supporting the little man you hopefully have in place a good support network for you and your wife.
