    Time will tell.
I think we are on the right track, I see Spurs who look like getting runners up for the second year running and who knows if Chelsea slip they may even better that, point being and I admit I dont know the figures but I cant imagine they have outspent City United even Arsenal and maybe us, he has built a team that can challenge with less money and I see no reason why we cant.

Levy really is a shrewd operator. If you have the right people in place you can certainly punch above your weight.

Levy runs the show, Lewis is the main shareholder I think.

Sakho, probably Sturridge, and a number of the fringe like Randall, Ojo, Bogdan, Manninger, Wisdom, etc. will be shown the door.
I dont think its a question of him being forced out [that would not happen with him] but it appears his contract is up so for him to stay it would mean a new contract and I am on the fence knowing that to be honest, its said we need better but I am not sure with the role he would take we would get better, I mean you dont get to many players with his experience who would happily take what is sort of 3rd choice DM {there are rumors Can will not be happy with second choice} but a new contract will cost and for a player who there is a big chance may not even play if Klopp sorts out the numbers it may be a cost to much.

I think the lack of depth going into the season, as well as a failure to really have targets lined up and immediately brought in when the January window opened, knowing that Phil was injured and Mane was leaving, derailed our season. As much as I love Klopp, he has to take some of the blame for that. I'm sure he felt that we had the necessary depth, but underestimated the physical toll the PL takes on squads in December & January - and that's where the season got away from us. An extra 2-3 quality players at the start of the season and/or in January would have kept us in title contention IMO.

I agree. Lucas has proved his worth this season and I think should definitely be kept on.

You're assuming Klopp's goal/expectation for the season was title contention to the end. I don't for a single moment believe that is the case. This year was about getting back into European competition to set things up for a summer buying push to the top the next few seasons. If it truly was about winning the league this season there'd have been some buying in January even with the inflated mid-season price tags. He's building a club for years at the top not going for win it now at all costs...

Or they could spend it all on a French Carlton Palmer like Utd.

What's that got to do with their current owners?

We haven't won the league for nearly 30 years - is that down to FSG?

If anything, their lack of success for so long makes their current standing even more impressive.

United have lost loads of money over the last three decades.
The best thing is it didn't come out of my pocket.

    Did I say they did?

Or do you just look for posts to disagree with? Even if it means making ridiculous inferrals?

A lot of people having a dig at FSG unfairly, but seem to praise the oppositions hierarchy. Just making a point. They have done well I agree.

What point were you making? That the previous owners weren't up to much?

The point you were arguing against was that shrewd management and intelligent spending can achieve results against clubs with much greater resources.

Indeed they do and it all goes into the club's account along with revenue from a myriad of different sources enabling the club to prosper and pay for things, such as players and their salaries for example.

Think he's more highlighting the contradiction with certain posters praising Levy for being "Shrewd", but then being critical of FSG for being "tight".

Maybe. But that's mostly the different sides of the argument - some see Spurs as a good example of what can be achieved with good scouting/spending, others still choose to disregard them and insist that the only way to compete with Chelsea/United/City is to match their spending.

Only the truly confused argue both sides.
