The panel will consist of one ex-match official, one ex-manager and one ex-player.

My personal opinion is that they're going to have a tough job, unless they're only there to punish "inarguable" dives.

One weird thing though is most "proper football men" British pundits are quite selective on which cheating is an isn't okay. A cynical trip is "clever" but a dive is "a disgrace"

It may reduce it, but it won't eradicate it a lot of dives aren't unanimous and a pen is often worth a ban, same as last man tackles used to be.

No chance - we are always the 1st to succumb to any new directive because we are an easy target as we never fight back like the rest do.

who does the forum think is the worst offender this season ??

I'd really love to find a way to extend this to injury feigning where a player brushed by another player goes down like an insurgent taken out by Chris Kyle...

British player goes down, and it's goes to ground, entitled to win that

Foreign player goes don, and it's a dive, cheating.

Too right,I'd put money on us being the only team to get done for this.
It'll be Mascherano and 'Respect The Referee' all over again.

Wonderful news, trouble ahead for likes of Alli and Hazard. We've seen Coutinho and Lucas both dive this season but its pretty rare from us, awful to see when it happens.

We've also seen Coutinho not go down.

Maybe Zaha will be the first to be punished after his manager was moaning about this rule today, and Zaha is no longer English so they can punish him, Palace can even pretend it's revenge for Zaha changing Nationality

Hazard has probably just handed in a transfer request in order to join Madrid after hearing this news. A shame this wasn't around during the Ferguson years.

Person dives, penalty is converted, three points in the bag, person gets a retrospective ban, points will still stand.

Don't see how this helps the problem.

Introduce the Real solution, video replays.

Hopefully the 2 game ban is enough of a threat to stop the dive happening in the first place, rather than a way of righting a wrong afterwards. I'd like to see larger bans for serial offenders - if Dele Alli for example thought he was going to miss say 5 games then he might think twice about trying to cheat, and managers might start coaching their players to play a bit more honestly.

It'll be interesting to see if it works. There's a possible side effect where refs will be less likely to book players for diving if they think an incident will be reviewed by a panel.
