Just horrible, and sadly they don't expect to find any more survivors, so It could rise substantially.

Tower block fires are my worst nightmare, having lived in tower blocks and seen what can happen. It is awful what has taken place.

Lots of messages on my Whatsapp of people knowing people who've lost parents, children, partners, brothers, sisters... there's a newly wed who's lost her life too. So so sad

This is just terrible, especially if there was forewarning and it could conceivably have been prevented.

    RIP to those who died.

    So sad

Labour MP David Lammy has described the Grenfell Tower disaster as "corporate manslaughter" and called for arrests to be made.

Just right, too. It's absolutely maddening to now read how this was predicted and how many times they were warned it would happen, and it was all ignored so they could save money. Sickening.

Still can't get my head around how the Tories voted down a law that requires landlords to ensure their properties were 'fit for human habitant'. How did this pass without much press?

    He's not wrong.

Certain people need to be held accountable. The truth is, the council and tenant org (KCTMO) did not give a damn about the people that lived in those block of flats, and it showed.

so you do have a tin foil hat Ron

but seriously, yes if we look deeper in to this situation one finds a deep suspicion of social cleansing in pursuit of
the particular cladding chosen for the building is a known fire accelerant which begs the question was there intent at some level or will it just be brushed off as accidental
Either way, I agree someone will take the bullet and that will probably not be the real culprits

I don't need a hat of any description mate.....

I always blame people - shortcuts people - greed people - jealousy people - envy people - The standards watered down people
Its not hard to see the common denominator

Capitalism and bribery have been around since time began... Most only see it when it suits their agenda.....

A young Muslim woman spouting off on BBC, saying the firemen didn't rescue people soon enough, as revenge for the terrorist attacks - stupid *****.

She can question whether the fire brigade acted quickly enough, but to say it was deliberate on their part, is just shocking. Those brave men and women entered that building at their own risk to save others, and brought out 65 people. 65 people who owe their lives to them.

I think we are looking a huge number of deaths here, sadly, and emotions are high, but you don't attack those who come to help you.

Latest death toll: 17 and expected to rise. The firemen haven't even begun a detailed search, so could be many many more poor people killed by the smoke or fire.

We should never let this be covered up or downplayed, what's happened here is an absolute tradgedy and people had concerns over it happening that's the absolute horrific part.

Yeah not very smart from her but there were people on the background agreeing with her saying the police and fire brigade was advising the residents to stay in their houses.

They are sending in "specialist dogs" to try and find victims so I assume they will have cameras on them. Why not just send in drones? I understand battery life of drones is only around 20 minutes but use multilple drones intrevenously instead of risking dogs lives.

The dogs will find, search for things far better then drones or humans can. I think firefighters are going inside and temporary structures are being built to make it safer to continue searching so I doubt there is a great risk for anyone going inside the building now.
