Genuine people, not a situation. You misinterpret as well as deny and quote Garbled nonsense. I appear to be at odds with you, somleave it at that please.

Moving the goalposts regarding ownership stability and manager commitment, eh?

I imagine some would find Klopp annoying.

Well you can imagine some would find playing for may be annoying but as VVD has already been reported as wishing to join LFC that statement doesn't apply to VVD. With regards to owner and management commitment they obviously provide the whole structure of playing football. One cannot disregard them they are intergral.

I hope Chelsea make a bid as it will bring all this out in the open and put an end to rumours and counter rumours.
Let them bid and see what is accepted. Its up to us then to match it or shut up and concentrate on finding an alternative CB.
I still feel he'll come to us should we match a Chelsea bid.

nah, he's a red mate - when we said we wouldn't sell Suarez and he wanted Barca did we say well ok we'll sell you but only to Madrid ? Did we ****.

This is nothing to do with Southampton, if he really wants to join us and Southampton are prepared to put him on the market then he'll come, all this ended our interest is towing the line on the basis they said he's not for sale, therefore if he is for sale then he'll sign for us I am absolutely sure.

Liverpool will not be signing VVD - get over it

With people saying VVD chose Liverpool over everyone, Liverpool now not on the table

Not like he tatooed LFC onto his forehead at any point

He made a choice a month ago which is now not available to him

    So its a clear choice

Stay at Southampton or go to Chelsea - simple choice

    It's Chelsea

Seems like a really long shot to me, at this point. I think he will eventually sign for someone else as we won't go near it again.

Yes we've made an embarrassing ass of ourselves in our pursuit of him and have had to make a humbling apology.
But if Chelsea do make a bid and it is accepted then do you not think that we could make a marginally better bid and recieve the same permission to speak to the player. It's then up to Van Dijk. Southampton will have already agreed to sell him.
Notwithstanding a subsequent higher bid from Chelsea, the ball is still in Van Dijk's corner and should he only wish to come to us then it will be so.
Are you suggesting that we will not or cannot bid for him if Southampton accept an offer?

Been posted that he does not have a buy out clause, he was slated for that some on the forum. I myself don't think many players have buy out clauses in their contracts. But I maybe way off the mark. Their agent would advise a club the figure.

It will be the most upsetting 350 quid I've ever made if he goes to Chelsea.

Or you could say that we have matip and vvd in defence for a cool 65 mil ....if we didn't have either player I would take that offer

Rumour has it that it is done deal to Chelsea for 60 m

They are gone into favorites now with the bookies.

This will be a devastating blow.

The big takeaway from our pursuit of VVD is that you have to make an actual bid to have any chance of signing a player.

As happy as I am with getting Salah, not getting van Dijk would be a major blow. Much worse if its to a rival. Hopefully the rumours are wrong.

    VVD per Skybet:

    Chelsea 4/7
    Liverpool 13/8

Notable change in the last few hours.

Wouldn't go over 50m for him. Even that fee is crazy, if you think about it. He hasn't kicked a ball in anger since January.

Anyone ever stopped to think he might not be the same player since that injury? He probably is the same player, but that risk is definitely there.

Was very disappointed to see us shoot our own selves in the foot with this transfer. Truly even worse to see that cause one of our rivals for top 4 or #1 spot to strengthen. Tough loss but hopefully we can move on from it and in the long run prosper.

I expect Saints to turn this bid down if the story is true.

Hopefuly, if he goes to Chelsea, his leg falls off. It should be obvious why we are a better option, their manager doesn't even want to be there and then there are the plastic fans.

It's almost a situation in which we want them to accept the bid, so we can come in afterwards with a better one.

I'm not giving up just yet. But, we won't find anyone better. Anyone else will be a compromise now.

I sort of agree. I think he's exactly what we need. I'm just worried we're putting all our eggs in one basket. Though I guess that confirms your point.
