Also depends on if VvD really want to move here. His agent will know that. If we don't end up with him, and he goes elsewhere, well the **** will hit the fan and meltdowns will begin. On both our owners, on the player.

We haven't even put in a bid yet. So if somebody else bids and they accept, we just match the bid and van Dijk will decide.

not going on tour with the squad. Why? he's is going to have to go through mental torment for his club to allow to sell him. It was bad enough when they threw their toys out of the pram threatening to report liverpool to the FA. we may as well approach him now, who cares if we get a serious fine

It's not the fine that we'd care about - it's the potential transfer embargo.

Add on a ban onto our next 1 or 2 transfer windows and / or a fine - quite shortsighted I would think

Not sure. If he does, well we will find out soon enough. Then this place will go on meltdown. What about you? Can you see him going to another club?

Had City in mind. They are need of a CB and were linked with him too.

I think he would be tempted if Chelsea bid for him.. Don't think he would like to go to Manu.

City maybe slightly more palatable but would still cause a national day of mourning - and it is not like City were not linked to him - there are a few reports linking the 2. I would like to believe however that if VVD has any self respect about him - coupled with all his alleged rantings about us - he would be silly to move anywhere else.

Should we sign VVD, there is no way that he will be PL fit for the start of the season.

for tapping up a player bureaucracy really does win the day. I know my opinion is amateurish but they are acting like brat-tish egotists pretending they can do no wrong whilst doing so

Manchester Evening News links VvD with City - 50 million. Article is 3 days old mind...but thought I'd mention it. And Kolarov has gone too...
    ----------------------

City have also put aside around 50m to bring in a top class centre back.

While Guardiola is open to the prospect of going into the season with John Stones, Vincent Kompany, Nicolas Otamendi and Aleks Kolarov as his centre half options - his interest in Virgil van Dijk is evidence of his intent to strengthen in that department.

Wouldn't be surprised if he joined them to be honest, especially if it becomes a bidding war or wages. We can only hope that he only wants to join us

With lovren and matip we were solid. Klavan will be better adjusted. Gomez is a real talent. Its not all doom and gloom.

I never said it was all doom and gloom. I said we put our trust in them. What comes out the other side is another matter.

True. More of the lines that they could have 2 options for each position at the back. They are linked with Bertrand too. Looks like Pep is spending at the back.

Well I wouldn't be that confident with that lot playing CL football but that's just me. I think they are all decent but we need a class CB to come in
