I personally would have kept him as a squad player for the season ahead but if he wants to play more regularly then he's earned the right.

    Great servant.

I don't think he was ever going to be brilliant. He was good, never excellent. But his commitment to the club can't be denied.

In fairness most of us would get injured after carrying Yaya Toure around in our shorts pocket for so long.

Yeah. He's was very good again this season when at DM, but hasn't reached those levels since.

I'll never forget how those ****** Chavs supporters BOOED him when he was carted off, as if he was faking injury.

Some games (more often than appreciated) he was very good, even MOTM on multiple occasions (generally when the team had been crap I will admit).

I'd rather he stayed, great lad to have around the squad and to call on when needed.

However after 10 years' service I'm more than happy to wish him well if he's after more playing time.

31 appearances last season. He'll need to be properly replaced.

31 appearances last season just showed how poor our squad was. No disrespect to Lucas, but for a team who wants to challenge for the title, Lucas shouldn't be playing 30+ games.

Replaced/upgraded, however you slice it, we're down 31 senior appearances at CB/DM if he goes.

Lucas has been rumoured to be on his way for about the last 5 years but then the manager (first Rogers then Klopp), realise what an absolute asset he is to have as a utility player to call upon for injury cover in many positions, so they keep him. He is a player worth far more to the club than his market value. He's going nowhere at the moment.

You are right, however i think the lad deserves more than that and should be playing regularly somewhere and i hope he does make the move to Lazio and plays a lot of games.

Lucas is a proud adoptive Scouser, breeding a scouser family,

I would have kept him even for that reason,

at least as a squad player, as a jack for any trade,

but probably the decision to leave was down to him,

he foresaw of having his playing time too much limited this season, likely neither scraps of games,

or simply he's willing to go living a new experience as a protagonist,

Lazio has just sold Lucas Biglia to AC Milan,

Lucas Leiva will likely gather his heritage in the middle of the park of the italian outfit,

Oh he did have very good games and some brilliant moments. Was there for his curler against Havant and loved every bit of that. Winning the Derby for us by winning a penalty of the less ugly Neville was also a highlight. In general I think he averaged out as a good but not outstanding player. But ultimately you're talking about a top pro and a lovely bloke who cares deeply about the club so he leaves with my full respect and I hope we get him his testimonial.

    From BBC Sport
"Liverpool let Lucas Leiva talk to Lazio over 5m Serie A move
The Brazil international, who has spent a decade at Anfield, will be absent for Friday's friendly with Wigan at the DW Stadium.
The 30-year-old, whose contract expires next summer, played 45 minutes at centre-back alongside Joel Matip against Tranmere Rovers on Wednesday.
Lucas joined Liverpool in 2007 for 5m from Brazilian side Gremio.
He has played 346 games for Liverpool, including 247 in the Premier League.
The Brazilian has frequently been used as a defender by current Anfield boss Jurgen Klopp but was deployed as a defensive midfielder for much of his time under former boss Brendan Rodgers.
He is Liverpool's longest-serving current player."

OOps! I forgot how stupid LFC can be in the transfer market. This makes no sense at all, but then when you have a manager who is so pig headed he freezes out a good central defender which the club desperately needed last season because he has personal issues with him, what can you expect?

    Good luck to him.

Unlike some footballers, he didn't say a bad things about our supporters, on Twitter or Instagram, which I and most people targeted him, and I deeply respect that.

    Good luck Lucas,

hopefully one day you'll return to meet your old beloved friends at Liverpool,

one of the Liverpool FC family since a decade,

    you'll be sorely missed!

I will genuinely really miss Lucas. I have a big soft spot for the guy. He really embraced the club and city.

    Sad to see him go.
