Jürgen Klopp has confirmed Liverpool are set to be without Adam Lallana for a significant period of time due to a thigh injury.

The playmaker sustained the issue during the Reds’ Audi Cup final with Atletico Madrid in Munich on Wednesday evening.

Lallana is now likely to be sidelined for ‘a couple of months, not weeks’ as he begins a rehabilitation programme with the club’s medical team, according to Klopp.

The manager told Liverpoolfc.com: “This is certainly not news we would have wanted.

“Unfortunately, the damage is such that it will likely mean Adam is out for a couple of months not weeks, so I think we can pretty much rule him out of August and September.

“Beyond that we will monitor and wait and see. He is a boy with a world-class attitude to everything professionally and he has always come back in good time from injury setbacks since I have been here, so we will see.”

now we re one injury away from not having enough wide players......

coutinho goes back to midfield... salah and mane wide , our back up is kent and ojo , both touted for loans to the championship....

and this is why we needed to add another wide option,

well this will strengthen our resolve to hang onto him cos only adam and phil in our squad can ideally play the 8 role.... maybe grujic could do something in a different way there in time....gini failed at being the most advanced of the three over a period of games last season....

We can 't move Coutinho on the left wing without Lallana taking his place in midfield.

Ante Coric (CM,AM,LW) would be a good signing.

A blow we didn't need, would have been nice to start with a clean bill of health

It would. Still don't know what the outcome of Sturridge is too. Has he travelled to Dublin?

Thigh injury needs 4 months recovery?
We will be ok, unless another injury happens to our midfielders.

    Karius
    TAA Matip Lovren Robertson
    Henderson Can
    Coutinho
    Salah Firmino Mane

In all honesty, it'd be a loss of depth for the first few months, not starting XI in my mind.

The way he divides opinions here, he'd fit right in. (Honestly, I do think he'd be a good signing, but still wonder if he'd want to actually come, since his role would not be much different long-term than what it is at Arsenal)

I'd guess we're more likely to see Gini than Henderson and Can playing together,

He'd be an excellent replacement for Lallana IMO.

Against the teams who park the bus we'll see Gini in midfield. Can, Henderson, even Grujic are ideal for breaking up play

Key to our style of play and was our best player at times last year.
Hoping for a quick recovery. He'll be a big loss no two ways about it.
We need another midfielder, perhaps even two.
