From what we’ve seen so far, what are everyone’s thoughts on the new signing?

He did have one of the worst full debuts I’ve seen in a long time for us; I personally thought he was going to be up for it with something to prove, but his poor form has continued to here from Arsenal, and possibly gotten worse.

Far far too early to tell but can't believe how we thought it was a good idea to spend 40m on a player who had 12 months left on his contract and wasn't signing a new deal.

This. But have to say he looked sharper vs Leicester yesterday. Looks better on the left hand side.

Overweight, not fit, doesn't seem to have his head in the game. Needs to improve and quickly.

Way too early to judge, he needs to build his confidence, he looked positive for the first time since he joined when he came on against Leicester the other half games he's looked like he's trying too hard.

I think once Klopp gets into the ribs of him he'll be a good player for us albeit I'm not too sure where he fits in.

I hope people give him time, he's an arm round the shoulder type I think.

Same reason Man City thought it would be a good idea to try and spend more on a player in a similar situation at the same club.

Anyway wasn't it £35 million and not £40 million.

If it was £40 million, I'm surprised they didn't ask for another £1.

If we didn't sign him, people would complain why wait for next season, we need players for this one what's the use is waiting things change, club never spends money. Of course club never spends money changes everytime we do, to club always over spends.

If we didn't sign him Arsenal might have said you won't play anymore until you sign a new deal, then he might with it being World Cup year feel he had no choice and signed it. Then it would be what was the point in waiting we have to pay the money still.

What if it goes to last day, Arsenal and Liverpool for 4th place again, this time Arsenal get it and not us and he then decides to sign the deal.

Chelsea wanted him too, so how could they have thought it was a good idea to spend that money on him.

So it's not like we are the only club who wanted to spend money on an Arsenal player available on a free next season.

Wanted him 6 years ago, now not really.

Just hope I am proved wrong in the long run.

He was only ever going to be a utility player for me.

Totally different environment, and he’s still getting settled in. He’s another experienced player and has pace, he’ll come in handy over the course of the season.

Hoping he proves to be a good signing, and that the fans give him a chance.

Not played enough nor even started enough to warrant any serious rating.

Still think it's criminal that we thought £35m was better spent on him than Davinson Sanchez.

One full start and a few cameos is not enough to judge but we've paid a lot for him. I'm sure Klopp's happy to have him, a handy utility player to have.

Way, way too early to judge him yet.

When he is on the pitch though I hope he plays out wide in one of the front roles as that is where I think he will be most effective.

We needed players up top so a centre back is irrelevant to compare

We didn't need Oxlade-Chamberlain. What has he added to our squad that Milner didn't already give us?

Agree about Sanchez he's a bit rough around the edges but he looks good very good.

We needed cover for when 1 of the 3 up top get injured. Ox gives us that as you know quite well Milner is the late sub to do a Lucas role. He can do that now Ox is here as before against Watford Milner was the sub for Salah i think.

So when one of Salah, Mané and Firmino get injured or suspended, we have the option of using Coutinho, Ings, Solanke, Sturridge, Lallana, Woodburn and Markovic there. Did we really need another squad filler for those positions?

Conversely, we currently only have three and a half centre backs.

Markovic is never getting a game.

So you name Couts and Lallana who are vying for the role behind. Sturridge cant play outwide. Ings injured. Solanke also like Danny is uptop. Woodburn also looks best in the deeper midfield role and Markovic seriously. Technically you've just answered why he needed 😜

Ox allows us to maintain the shape etc

But you knew all this. Your just typical of most on here that have all this knowledge about what should be done but yet fail to see whats so blatantly obvious.

He was 7th on the list. 10th if you include the first 3. All Oxlade has done is relegate him to 11th choice for a front 3 position.

It also annoyed me Klopp went for a player we needed the least instead of either a) a keeper, b) a striker, c) a CB or d) a DM.

He's clearly being used as a wide man in our 2nd string side.

Yes he has a good burst of pace but football is about more than that.

Mané and Salah won't start 45-50 games this season. Mané's missed three already, whether unjustified or not.
