    The BIG derby at home....

Next up a return to Anfield to face Manchester United in this mouth watering match.

We haven't had the best of luck against United lately in the league and we are hoping to close the gap on the league leaders. It will be a very hard match against a new United set up to one we have faced in the past. A real test of our character and a real test at home if we can compete with our rivals.

    Lets do this!

Knowing LFC we could probably turn up for a big game with the usual set-up, but might as well fall to the tactics of Mourinho (and the post-international-break hang-over). So I'd we tempted to try the following:

    ------------Mignolet
    TAA---Gomez---Matip---Moreno
    --------Grujic----Can
    Salah------Coutinho-----Mane
    -------------Firmino

bench: Karius,Klavan, Milner, Hendo, Sturridge, AOC, Solanke

-Gomez might not be the best at CB, but he can and will improve by playing regularly. If lovren can't train consistently he shouldn't be in the line-up. With the little time on the training field with all the midweek games, we should try to get a standard CB pairing and let them play together as much as possible.

-hendo-wijnaldum-can doesn't work, it rarely has. Yes grujic is young, but he seems very good on the ball. Let him and Can protect the back 4.

-coutinho, salah, mane and firmino have it in them to score loads of goals, they're just hitting a rough patch. No point in committing 2 extra CM's to the attack constantly and exposing the back 4 even further. The 2 cm's won't solve the scoring problem, but they might solve the leaky defence.

But hey, probably 0 chance this team would ever start a game together

This is what Mourinho's tactics will be against us.

Keep it tight to begin with and stop us from playing.
Once they get a set piece, Lukaku/fellaini/Pogba etc will bomb into our penalty area for the cross because one of them will get a free header.
As soon as they're ahead, they'll stifle the game and frustrate us classic Mourinho style, then take us on the break with the likes of Martial/Rashford/Mkhitaryan.

Another parked bus with 6 at the back. Anfield should be rocking.

According to FIFA 18, we are going to lose this by at least 3 goals.

Anyway, Man Utd are clear favourites. By a mile. It's depressing.

Iím so despondent about us at the moment, a loss against these is going to hurt. A win could get us back on track however.

    3-1 United.

Let's not kid ourselves, they're miles better than us at the moment with a nearly identical record to City who hammered us.

The usual "we always turn up for the big games" won't apply here. Well... it didn't apply vs City, and I think it will take that and then some to come out with all three points.

Still.... of all games, this is the perfect one to turn around our form.

They shouldn't need to park the bus. They can compete with us toe 2 toe with the improvements they've made. Just hope they do, and in doing so open up at the back.

Yep right now I'm not feeling too confident about this one. Utd will be different from last year at Anfield - perhaps not in their shape and setup but definitely in terms of confidence, strike power and balance.

We have struggled after intl breaks and its seem to coincide/bring about a dip in our form - lets hope this time around the break does us good and we come back and hit the ground running again in the PL.

They'll let us attack then get us on the counter. We tend to ease up second half as our players tire.....unless we play like we did v arsenal we will struggle

I'm glad we get 2 weeks to train for this game.

I want high tempo pressing, hard challenges, and good finishing.

I think this game can turn our season around.

    Migs
    Gomez Matip Lovren Moreno
    Can Henderson Wij
    Salah Firmino Coutinho

I'd play Hendo + Can + Coutinho in midfield with Salah, Mane and Firmino in attack.
On current form, we'd lose this. Horribly.

Absolutely. Would bite your arm off if offered a point. Considering how poor we have been a point would be a miracle. I just dread a city style hammering.

Yes. On form, Salah is creating the most counter attacking chances.

It's going to be a tough battle in midfield, and I'd want an extra man in there not named Coutinho with Elbows roaming the hoof's and GK's.

But I want him in the side. Bring Mane on around 55 if we need him and shift accordingly. Wij, for everything else he can't do going forward, is strong on the ball which I think we'll need in the middle of the park.

    Based on what?

If we're being honest, based on what we've seen from both teams this season then manure will tear us a new one.

This. Their fixture list was well and truly cooked in their favor.

How one club goes 7 matches to start the season without playing a top 5 opponent while another gets 3 in the first 6 is truly baffling. I also like how they're the only club without a top 5 opponent in the Dec 12-Jan 20 frame (inclusive) while quite a few have 2 such opponents in that jammed fixture period.

Based on those are my opinions
I think we have missed easy chances made schoolboy errors at the back but it wont be like that forever our chances will start hitting the net and mistakes at the back wull ease up hopefully against the Mancs

With the international break in between it's way too early to be posting line-ups. I will say, though, that if Lallana is fit enough for a half by then I'd start him, not put him on the bench.

Not moaning. Just being realistic. We have a non-existent defence and our attackers are losing form. Meanwhile, they and City are wiping the floor with every opponent they faced.
