(altho maybe not this game as it is too big for a radical change like this).
I think this could be a good suggestion if we could keep a high tempo against man utd throughout. (other than gomez, ward ik lack of choices available)

We sign a left back that's better defensively than Moreno but don't play him. I struggle to understand why that is, it makes no sense.
If we score first we might be ok but I think Mourinho will be relishing this game it's got his tactics written all over it. They'll do us on the counter, and they won't have to try hard as I'm sure we will help them out.
Think you're right. I think Jose is coming to do just that. How many he can put past us.

I also like that idea. In fact I would do it if not just to surprise Jose with something completely different. Who dares wins, as the saying goes.

One can lean against the post for most of the game. Not a problem for me.

Yeh he's got tennis elbow from elbowing too many people in the face. Poor thing.

Jokes aside it's actually a knee injury and out for a few weeks, still not sure if that's a good or bad thing for us. He would be just as likely to get sent off as score against us I guess.

Was pretty funny, in the BBC article reporting his injury he's even about to elbow someone in the pic they chose!

I'm all for it because you could easily predict the starting XI as (4-3-3): Mignolet, Gomez, Matip, Lovren, Moreno, Henderson, Can, Wijnaldum, Salah, Firmino, Coutinho, which I really hope doesn't happen. It would be particularly sweet to catch Mourinho (whom the media/pundits etc. see as the tactics/mind games god) off guard with a different setup and personnel. The only drawback is Oxlade-Chamberlain purposefully rejected Chelsea because he assumed that he'd end up as a RWB when he wants to be a CM in which case you'd play TAA or Milner there.

So 3 things we need to happen in this game

Klopp shuts up shop - he has to tighten that defence somehow

Be proactive instead of reactive, we have become predictable, everyone knows what Salah, Mane, Henderson, Can, Wijnaldum and Firmino are about
Everyone knows when Klopp is gonna make his subs, everyone knows we will give the other team opportunities

Find a way to beat the parked bus, coz you know maureen will use it.....

I am not usually one for line-ups but having given some thought to the game on Saturday I would like to see us make a few changes. It probably isn't the time to experiment but I think we need freshening up.

GK) Ward - Massive call to pick him but Klopp has thrown Karius in at the deep end at times so it could be the making of him and, well, why not? We kept him at the club for a reason, to play and fight for the number 1 spot. In my opinion he deserves an opportunity with the other keepers not really being that assured.

CB) Lovren - I don't understand why we did not buy a replacement but for now, there is not too many alternatives. Would have liked to have used the Ox money to properly strengthen our defence but we are where we are

CB) Can - Probably not going to get many people agree with me here but he has played there before and done ok. It would offer a bit more protection and I believe he would be good at bringing the ball out from the back , which I think is essential if you play a back 3.

CB) Matip) Our best central defender

WBL) Robertson. Has played well in the few opportunities he has been given and I would like to see him for a sustained period now. Could cause Utd problems getting wide and delivering quality balls into the box. I never feel comfortable with Moreno despite his pre-season form

WBR) TAA. Massive talent who now needs to nail down a place. Career could still go either way for me as of right now

CB) Ox - Has played in some really big games and is in desperate need of some confidence. He can't play any worse than he has in recent times and this could be the game that kick starts his Liverpool career. A lot of money was spent on him and we need to start seeing something, anything.

CB) Hendo - Giving Hendo a slightly more advanced role and a little more protection could mean he can express himself more and take ownership in the middle of the park. We need more forward thinking and quicker distribution but I think he is capable

LW) PHIL - The only choice to replace Mane in an attacking position

RW) Salah - His signing has allowed us to still have pace and direct running on the counter attack

ST) Firmino - His closing down all over the pitch is going to be essential against Utd.

    ..

    --------------------------Ward-----------------

    ---------------------Matip------Can-------Lovren---------

    --------------TAA------------------------------------Robertson----

    ---------------------------OX------Hendo-------

    ------------Salah---------------------------------------PHIL------------

    -------------------------------Firmino--------------

    ....

Just my opinions, not necessarily what I think will happen. Fortunately it is not me that has to make the call!

Like the formation. Swap Can with Matip, change midfield 2. The rest looks good

Got a feeling they'll try to outplay us this time, instead of parking the bus(considering their good run of form and great confidence)
which wouldn't be bad for us

or all 3! Mignolet to save penalties, Ward and Karius to share shot stopping, crosses, distribution and generally command the box from open play, coming out as necessary etc

And that way one would be free to stand on the line whilst the wall is being organised for free kicks!

A loss would really hurt us, it wouldn't be season over, but it would be very damaging psychologically for fans and players alike...

This is the game to get our season up and running, but they certainly have the edge in confidence going in to this one. It would be great if we could be the ones to start making them question themselves again...

I'm not overly confident in us at this moment in time, but with a bit of luck, and a good, fast and high intensity start, hopefully we can do some damage to them!

Yeah, but it's not necessarily what I'd want.

I actually wouldn't mind seeing a little unexpected change to shake things up. Maybe hold out Wij and put in Ox. Just something different in the midfield to give united something to think about.

And I'd like to see someone other than Migs in goal, but it's not going to happen. I wouldn't mind Robertson at LB and TAA at RB, but I put out what I thought Klopp would go with.

Here's what I'd like to see:

    Karius
    TAA Matip Lovren Robertson
    Can Henderson
    Salah Ox Coutinho
    Firmino

    But it's aint gonna happen

Despite everything our defense is capable of producing the occasional clean sheet. It has been a while since it all clicked and we managed it so fingers crossed their stars align on Saturday.

Need Salah to be clinical, Coutinho determined to leave us with good memories and Firmino to wake up!

Watched so much dry football recently that I'm expecting another but I want to be wrong. If we can't raise our game for this then what is the point?

We'll be lucky to avoid a hammering. If we get a point I'll be relieved.

We'd need at least 100 shots on goal to score 4.
