I think it is time this club got a new captain. I like Henderson but his performances have been woeful and something needs to change. We need more inspiration and a captain leading from the front. Perhaps this will let Henderson focus on his performances.

Who would be the next captain. In my mind there are two candidates:

    1) Coutinho
    2) VVD

Ok I know that Coutinho is controversial since he may be gone next summer and VVD is not even a Liverpool player but we need players with real leadership even if that is for the short run. If VVD is arriving in January (big if) I say give him the captain's band.

    Emre Can.

Ship Hendo back to Sunderland; farce of a player.

So the two candidates are a player who wanted to leave the club in the summer or someone we haven't even signed yet.

    It's a no from me.

My thought a exactly. Why don't we have carragher as our captain of the other two aren't available.

I honestly don't know who in our squad can be captain, I haven't seen a proper leader amongst them.

Unlikely to be Coutinho least he commits himself to Red as he could be gone before the seamstress has tailored the band to his bicep.
I'd say Can if sorted himself out and matured a tad but like Couts, he could be flying south soon too!
No real stand out candidates so leave it with Hendo and give it to Keita after year one.

We all know it should be Lovren.

Karius. His sense of calm will eminate through the team.

There is no one in the Liverpool squad that is Captain material.

    And that's the bottom line.

In all seriousness, for all his faults, there really is no alternative to Henderson. We have the most uncaptainy side ever assembled.

I've finally made peace with Henderson being captain, but it's perfectly acceptable for Klopp to have him as club-captain in name, but not as a regularly playing captain - many clubs have had this scenario for decades.

So, blame Klopp, not Henderson, for being a regularly playing captain, as Henderson did'nt appoint himself as captain, nor does he pick himself as a regular starter.

This is the bottom line Iím afraid, Iíve been a big defender of Hendo but I just canít defend him right now heís has been so average this season, Klopp wonít dump him this season but with the imminent arrival of Keita next summer I am struggling to see how he gets in the side
    dont look back in anger.

There really isn't anyone in our squad that screams, 'Captain'.

If I had to give it to someone, I'd hand the armband to Emre Can personally. He never hides and actually gives a damn when on the pitch.

We can have the debate when a stand out candidate...err...stands out.

No need to take it off Hendo...it isn't why he keeps getting picked...despite the myth to the contrary.

Reports suggest he wants to leave and join Juve, so why?

Klopp should strip it from Henderson and wear it himself .If no one is going to show urgency or passion out there than no one deserves the title. sThere has to be some consequences to whats going on right now the players seem to be getting away with poor performances against crap sides

And two players that essentially went on strike to force a move.

Just the kind of players you look up to.

I completely agree... I would slap it on Can, but he looks to be off as well so doesn't leave any options....

Is Hendo doing the job for you as captain? Just curious

I like the story of how Jamaal Lascelles became Newcastle's captain. After a game last season he was outspoken in the dressing room after a lousy performance by the team. He reprimanded who needed it and Rafa instead of ticking him off, thought, I like this kid, he's our new captain.

Honestly no one at the club is Captain material. But if we had to choose i would go for that nobody mentions is Lallana lad has alot of Captain experience and his passion and his attitude such as motivating the players is great qualities. He also speaks very sensibly when interviews.

He is also a starter and consistently the best midfielder we have bar Coutinho. Lallana shows vocally everything but the lads plays with a serious passion the only guy that presses, tackles. The one who always runs the most in all games. He sets the standard for others. When you see your captain play like that you will follow.
