There is no need for detente.

There is no war nor acrimony between genders.

Me thinks the OP though, doth protest protest too much, unnecessarily,if I may add.

Right, lets remove all the posts that have nothing to do with the OP and are merely bickering about each others posting style.

Wonder how many will be left.

    Not many then.

Just stick to the topic folks, how and why other users choose to post in a certain fashion should never become the predominant exchanges in any thread other than one started for the express purposes of discussing posting styles. If other posters style annoys anyone, then use your inbuilt ignore feature, or the forum one, either will work.

Mea culpa, officer, I have a propensity for incorrigible whimsy, which frequently propels me off topic., apologies to the OP and any other concerned citizens. I am a chastened and contrite pilgrim.

Why should you not get paid to play for your country?

Do you have any idea how much money is made $$$ by very rich non-players off international football?

But the players should get none of it?

    That's really sad.

Equal pay in international football for women and the thread is just... nothing. And half the remaining posts are people making fun of it.

Anyway, well done to Norway and this is great to see.

It goes without saying that you should. It's work you should be remunerated for.

Also women footballers are more reliant on the income they get from international football, so to say they get paid enough is to apply the logic of the men's game to the women's.

What ever it was, charities benefitted as England players always donate their match fee to charity, but as that isn't a scandalous or a sensationalism story, it's not printed on the front pages or have an hour dedicated to it on the news channel, with multiple repeats during the day.

Seeing as players get paid to play for their nation, they should not get paid for their club during this period, as they are getting paid twice for the same job.

I'm all for equality but aren't the two teams very different in terms of interest, tv coverage and ticket sales?

Something like Tennis I totally agree with in fact in some instances that's better than the men sport which is a bit dull in comparison so they should get more but in football they are not watched, covered or supported at the same levels.

It all gets very chicken egg though. It's hard to get the funding without the support, it's hard to get the support without the funding.

Not only is it intense work, it's devoting your whole life to that work. And since the "industry" of football makes billions, including all the owners and executives, then it makes sense that football players should earn a big cut of that money. Yet some fans berate players for the amounts they earn as if the players created this system, or perpetuate it.

It's also work that only lasts until you get seriously injured, or too old, or lose form and are no longer wanted. Every time a player pulls on a national shirt, they're risking their whole career. And lots of money is being made off that risk - off that international game. And yet there are people who think they should play for their country for free?

It's a bit like asking a building contractor to build a house for free since it's for a government official.
