Liverpool return to action after the *********** International break with a home fixture against Man Utd.

On Tuesday Liverpool were dealt a severe blow with the news that Sadio Mane has picked up a hamstring injury while with Senegal.

Last season's corresponding fixture saw Jose Mourinho's side bore their way to a 0-0 at Anfield.

The game is live on Sky Sports Premier League & Sky Sports Main Event#

Martin Atkinson is the ref for this match.

Dreading this to be honest. The way we've been playing the past month has been very discouraging.

Could well be a very frustrating game. No surprise what game plan Maureen will be going for.
Hopefully some of our guys can pull off something good.

Me too, I’m normally very bullish but atm I’m very down about our team and without Clyne, Lallana and Mane we are very short on options. Cou and Bobby only back from Brazil late too.

hopefully Daniel Sturridge and Dom Solanke will play at least a good part of next contest, and will turn up offering something different at the top end of the field,

I guess Phil Coutinho and Bobby Firmino could be tired few hours after their return from Brazil,

we should exploit our strength in depth on our attacking third if we want to cope with the fatigues that next 90 mins will likely entail,

Tough luck for bobby and phil if they are tired , they'll have to play.

with mane out i don't hold out much hope for this game, lets hope whoever steps in grabs this chance

Well what else would you suggest because that is what the XI will be...there's no point even guessing.

please mate, don't be that defeatist,

after all, United too have to give up on two three essential assets,

I predict a draw or a narrow hard fought win for us,

cheer up, mate, be a tad optimistic!

we still have the magic Philippe Coutinho!

im not suggesting anything , im giving my opinion on a back 4 with lovren, gomez and the ever so improved moreno (do me a favour) , its a poor side , and it hurts now because im realising we've not improved really bar salah, we havebought a better left back but he seems to be not even in contention

Ha ha see the doom and gloom ****nuggets are out in force **** me its only Tuesday.

It’s simple, when we get tipped to win we fluff our lines just go back to the same game last season when we were licking our lips, then when we’re out of form and the odds are against us generally we come up with a win so on that basis we will win this game no *********** problem so cheer up forum fridge magnets lighten up it’s all gonna be alright

Hopefully the lads put in a good shift and we get something out of this game.

For the first time in a long time, however, I am nervous about this game.

I disagree. Take out one of our midfield three for Mane and it's probably our best team.

Losing Mane is a big blow clearly, but I still think we'll take something from the game.

Isn't he back for this game? Maybe from bench?

It's four years since we beat them at home in the league, we're due one.

The first thing we'll see is Mourinho set his side up to absorb pressure and hit us hard on the counter. Mourinho is all about tactics. Therefore we need to be smart at the back.

Regardless, after his last outing, I'd leave Gomez out for sure. He was pitiful and thats being kind. TAA although less defensive but more confident and comfortable on the ball.

Might sound nuts but I'd be tempted to start with Studge up front. He's a spent force but he's bound to score sooner or later. Saying that I'd be happy to see Firmino out there.

Perhaps Ward on the bench. Karius needs to be moved on... no point persisting with a mistake and I like Ward's posture in goal... looks like a real commander out there.

The biggest question is whether or not AOC starts. Does he deserve it? He's not demonstrated anything positive in particular. But a midfield trio of Hendo, Gini and Can... no!

Coutinho starts in the centre no matter what. Let him pull the strings. He'll draw fouls too. AOC needs to prove he's not a bigger mistake that Andy effin Carroll. He starts.

I'd be a complete fraud if I said I wouldn't drop Hendo... of course I would. Gini is a bit useless too but he's just a touch more comfortable on the ball. Well need his A game.

True and we fancied our chances in most of those but failed to show up, there is a lot to prove for several of our players and the loss of elbows who has had a big impact in the last couple of games is a plus, we are overdue a bit of luck too.
