Iím not saying that theyíre breaking any rules, but surely, if the unsettling of players that are clearly not for sale is frowned upon by footballs governing bodies, then Barca should at least be told to dial it down. The most surprising thing thing in all of this, to me is that we donít seem to be doing anything as a club to deter them from constantly talking about our player in the press.

Itís not what theyíre doing, as much as what us and the football authorities are not.

I'd rather we didn't act like Barca when it comes to unsettling players.

If it could potentially land the player who cares about another clubs feelings?!

Lol yapping in the press is desperate and has zero influence on whether a player stays or leaves.

Fair play to them if they get their man.

    Hmm...which one do you prefer?

Trophies and getting top players.... Oh wait I guess I have to go with class because surely winning at all costs is not at the top of our clubs list

Just the way it goes now. No point making a fuss about it, we'll want some of their players in the future no doubt.

The two things are not mutually exclusive.

It's also the exact same thing we did do with Van dijk. It almost got us a transfer ban.

How do we even know his name is in the envelope?

    We've seen this trick before.

Was there ever a threat of a ban or you're just tying to justify us not making a single bid?

Of course there was. We're already banned from signing youth players and were reported to the FA for tapping up. What do you reckon they were going to do?

I'm not justifying anything I'm just making a point.

I have no idea what ďwe didĒ during our attempts to buy VVD, what I do know is after Southampton came out in the press and made clear he wasnít for sale, we didnít drop a comment or two in the press every week to unsettle the player. In my opinion, the two situations are completely different and Barca are bang out of order. Iím not going to sit here and act like I donít mind, just in case I have to co-sign for our clubs actions in our future transfer (mis)behavior.

Can you prove it.I remember asking around what the worst case scenario would be if Soton went ahead with their complaint and a ban was never on the table according to many

No I can't prove it. You also can't prove it wasn't. Tapping players up is illegal so I'm fairly certain the FA would have had no issue banning us from doing so considering they have already done this to us this year.

Also we made a public apology. If there is one thing a major organisation or business does not like doing it is public apologys that bring the brand in disrepute. So the only reason that would have been done is because they knew they had too. Had the worst case scenario been some sort of fine then there is no way a public apology would have been issued, it would have been swept under the carpet.

Unless they offer cash upfront instead of 16mill a season then he's going nowhere

And considering he says they have to sell first, then where will this cash come from.

I cant see many Barca players wanting to leave in Jan and miss out on any trophies too

I can prove tapping up has happened before and the worst consequence was a fine not a ban.Where do you get the idea that a threat of a ban was on the table?

Can you prove a ban wasn't on the table and Chris' point is definitely incorrect?

Why do people ask silly questions like "prove it" when they themselves have no specific evidence to their side of the argument either?

We're all outsiders looking in, making assessments on the info available. No one has definitive proof.

Its not a silly question, the burden of proof lies with the person who makes the claim.Like I told him there have been tappings before and the FA has yet to handout a transfer ban

The burden of proof lies with those who make the claim? this isn't a court of law!

If you can't back up your counter claim, you're point is just as moot.

Surely we dont have to be in court for someone to make a claim and then when asked for proof his response is ask you to prove its not the case.

if I told you Klopp wanted Messi and you asked me for proof and my response was prove he didnt want to sign Messi would you be satisfied?
