What we need is someone to screen the defense and set the tempo of the game. We need another Alonso.

    Scored again tonight against Mainz.

He now has 4 in 10 games for Schalke and 2 in 1 for Germany this season.

Just watching the Mainz game from yesterday. Nice finish. Get a proper deep lying midfielder - let Hendo go - and then have Goretzka and Keita running our midfield (assuming Coutinho is off).

    Wheres Geis these days?

Sitting on the bench for Sevilla. Which makes a change from sitting on the bench for Schalke, I guess.

Germany’s general manager, Oliver Bierhoff: “We feel England, because of the amount of money you have with TV rights, young talented players like Leroy Sané & Leon Goretzka are moving to England.“

    Interesting

Germany invested an absolute fortune in youth development after things went belly up for them in 2004. It doesn't surprise me that they've cottoned on to the fact that exporting their youth players to the wealthiest leagues will aid their development.

Perhaps. The point is Bierhoff hints Goretzka is on his way to the PL rather than Bayern.

Sure, I was just adding that really. I think he has bigger fish to fry than us but what a signing he would be. He and Keita would transform us.

Aye he'd be a fantastic addition. Not sure we'd be transformed exactly, without someone new behind them.

Pep stockpiling the best young talent, I reckon. Would love for it to be us though.

Reports are he wants to play, so not sure City is the best choice for him.

    He'll play more here.

I wish a lot more of the riches the Premier League possesses went toward the development of young people here, more exposure for women’s football, and a hell of a lot more could be done for grassroots football too, especially in deprived areas. Whatever is being spent, isn’t enough.

I suppose that’s a conversation for a different subject so I’ll leave it at that.

Additionally, I also feel a lot of British players could have a much better career if they travelled abroad. I’ve never quite understood why they don’t. There are some really good players at all levels, a few years abroad, developing could work wonders for them.

It'll be Arsenal, for absolutely no good reason.

    Just like Kolasinac.

Might be being a little unfair but feels like we're still waiting for Klopp to use his nationality, reputation and powers of persuasion to beat City etc to a top top signing. This is surely one of those moments. We should be looking closely at Neves too - Alonso replacement.

This I fear.......again, Kolasinic seemed almost too obvious for JK with BL background and our need for a good left back. We have to take advantage of our advantage.

Goretzka has told Barcelona he does not want a move to Nou Camp, and instead wants to play in the Premier League.

Goretzka believes the Premier League is the best fit for his playing style.

Like he wouldn't want to play for Klopp. Plus I bet Matip has been selling the place to him.

Goretzka is basically ours. Let's get carried away

From what I've seen and heard from him Matip doesn't strike me as a guy who could sell anything to anyone!

Sign Goretzka and Weigl to play along Keïta, done. Weigl shielding the defence with Keïta and Goretzka as box to box mids.

There needs to be a bit of Weigl room, but it could be done.

    Yes please.

If we're losing Can on a free would love to get him as a replacement for free as well. Maybe he'll be announced that he has signed a pre-contract in Jan, we can only hope.
