I play that star wars heros game. it's a great time waster and my 6 year old loves it. He probably knows more characters at this point than I do. Although , who is snoke?

    Welcome, to the twilight zone.

There are numerous conspiracy theories as to who he is, some say Plageuis, some say Vader, some say Palpatine, some say Jar Jar. Most likely scenario, hes completley new, which will be disappointing.

I'd be more disappointed if it was someone or something we already knew about. It's time to move the story forward.

What are the theories about Vadar being Snoke? I thought he was dead dead.

Considering he wasn't even sure to be a He until quite close to the end of TFA I doubt he's a returning character tbh. More likely a new character IMO.

Just on a quick related (ish) point for the fan boys, I've never understood the Rule of Two when the Sith are in the ascendancy. Only really practical when you are doing what Palpatine was doing not really so much when you want to blatantly wipe the Jedi out or assert a strangle hold on the galaxy.

I agree with this. Not everything needs to be tied to characters we already know. Just give us his origin story and justify where he's been for the past decades and that'll be enough. Same thing with Rey, she doesn't have to be a Skywalker or a Kenobi, although I'm pretty sure she is. They seem to be going back into the extended universe so it's possible that she could be Jaina Solo.

Oh and if Snoke is Jar Jar Binks I think I won't ever open another star wars book or watch another movie

It goes back to the Old Republic when Bane wiped out the Sith, bar his apprentice. There was massive fighting within the Sith order and people not fit kept taking the power. So Bane's philosophy was that there would be one master and one apprentice. When the apprentice becomes strong enough then they would kill the master and take the reigns which ensures that you have the 'rightful' head of the Sith. I think they'll start to go away from that now which is why I'm curious to see who the knights of Ren are.

It will be a plot hole though. How can he be so powerful that Palpatine and Vader couldn’t sense him. There’s only been one character who can manipulate medi-chlorians. Plageuis would be the best addition to the films. The theory being he created Anakin in order to get revenge on Palp, then re-emerges.

This has been somewhat addressed in one of the Aftermath novels. This article will contain spoilers for those novels, and perhaps for future movies, so you can chose to read the article below or not.

I don't know the extent to which Darth Plagueis has been explored in the the novels, tv series or comics that have been officially made canon, but I quite like the idea that Palpatine made it all up to seduce Anakin. I know there are references to him but unless there has been some evidence of him actually being real then it can be quite easily explained as it being just a story, a device used to help Palpatine.

Agreed. Snoke needs to be a completely new character with no connections to anyone or anything else. He's just an evil guy who picked up the pieces when the Empire collapsed. That's all he needs to be.

Snoke may be the being referred to in the Unknown Regions where Palpatine felt a strong dark side presence calling out to him. What is expected is that Snoke is very old and has seen more than we most can expect. I'm quite intrigued by that. As for being a stand alone character, I agree, he should be a brand new stand alone character.

Yeah my little lad likes playing it with me but he must only be present for about 5% of the play time.

I had a proud daddy moment the other day when not only did he ask to watch star wars he also picked BB8 PJs out of line up and then bugged me to get them. Sooooo Happy.

Plageuis is officially canon isn’t he? There is an actual novel on him as well. Nah I don’t like the idea of him not existing.

If that’s the case then yeah I can get on board with him being new. I just can’t be bothered if that isn’t the case and he is some mad powerful being popped out of no where. If they go down Snoke being ancient and above Jedi and sith, it will be great. I can’t help but look at him as not so evil since I’ve seen him wearing yellow.

Only canon through Palpatines story IIRC and the books are not canon. So it could have just been a fabrication. Sorry.

There's only a limited amount of stories that are canon now. The movies, the two animated series, and a select number of comics, novels and games. In terms of novels and comics, is essentially everything that came after Disney bought the franchise is canon. Everything before is labelled as Legend. It was so they weren't tied down by history when rebooting the universe with The Force Awakens. I think the more we move away from what we think we know, the more interesting the stories will be. I like continuity and I have to have everything link up and make sense, but I dont want the stories to be bound and contained by all that's come before it.

Maybe he's just an alternate sort of evil dude. Y'know… likes to keep connected to the kids, and all that. He's a happening dude.

I suppose so. Still, a film when the sith were at their most powerful before the rule of two, a war between Jedi and sith, would be amazing.

I like it, lots of opportunity to fill in some cinematic blanks and some hardcore lightsabre action.

Also, the premise for the Force Unleashed computer game was really good (pity about the game, it was good but it could have been awesome) where Vadar had a secret apprentice tasked with hunting Jedi whilst killing imperials to keep his existence from Palpatine (set between the two trilogies and setting up the rebel alliance before the whole thing was bumped into the "Legends" category). Considering it was put together by LucasArts (to one extent or another) it might be something to revisit.

This Tv spot was informative. I do have some trepidation though. I hope they don’t rehash ESB with Rey leaving against Luke’s wishes like he did with Yoda.

My thoughts exactly although Luke on the Falcon might indicate not (but who can tell), the Snoke voice over was interesting too, was he referring to Kylo and Rey or Kylo/Rey alone or something else? I also notice that the Japanese poster shows Luke holding a lightsabre. More opportunity to show a Darth Vader-esque pure power-over-style fight (like in Rogue One)?

I get more excited by the day tbh especially since my kids are getting into Star Wars in a big way. Makes me very happy.
