There will be. Unless his agent tells clubs, Juve is done I think there will be plenty of clubs sniffing around.

Seems certain it will be Juventus. Would have heard about some other clubs by now. Someone may come in with a bid in Jan but I expect Can wants Juve

I get that release clauses are a massive risk seeing how a 60m clause two years ago would be unthinkable and now it would maybe buy you Dusan Tadic, but you can’t take that risk this late in his contract.

Nah think how often you hear about one team being the only one in for a player then a fortnight later they’re 4th in the queue.

Come June it could be Juve but I’d bet Dortmund, Munich possibly the likes of Chelsea and City will be sniffing around.

Juventus don't waste money. But I find it hard to imagine that there would be no other takers.

True. So maybe some will pay rather than take a risk to wait till the summer

    Not bothered.

We seem to be talking about his potential forever and he's not getting closer.

Would we sell in January, if a bid came in, even though we're a bit short on midfielders?

If you think the player we see now is the same one we saw in November 2014 then we’re watching different sports.

He’s such a yo-yo player, pedestrian one moment, tenacious the next. I can’t figure out whether to like him or loathe him.

    Bizarre.

A midfield of Mascherano and Keita is too good to even dream about.

    Bizarre.
He definitely have those sluggish games in him, but he (a bit like Sakho, Crouch,Sterling) has a strange style of movement, so sometimes even when he’s doing something well it doesn’t look right.

Which ironically I sometimes find is the opposite with Lallana and Wijnaldum.

    Listen we do - no
Ok we'll go for free then - No we don't want people to pay just 50m.

    Errr.....
More questionable operating procedures by the people running the Liverpool FC circus if it is just about a release clause

I’m with the club on this one. No release clauses in any contracts.

Except for the £0 one he currently has?

What a random selection of players to compare.

Release clauses mean a player can be bought out in any window on 2 week notice.
It's the no control over time of departure which makes release clauses problematic.

So if we have a great season, there would be no control that 4 or 5 players might be gone next transfer window.
End of contract has a fixed time.

It highlights perfectly the major flaw in the buying for the future policy. Just like with Sterling they start thinking they deserve more too quickly then all of a sudden theyre looking to leave.

There must be more to it than the buy out clause.

Part of the game, he's no Xabi, Gerrard, or Masch. We will be able to cope, best of luck to the young man.

There is control, transfer windows. Similarly, contracts only expire in July majority of the time.

Why if we gave Emre Can a release clause would we suddenly have half the squad asking for one? And if they have a while to run on their contracts then **** them.

If we got into a situation where 4 or 5 key players all went into a summer with tiny release clauses we’ve majorly ********** up, but that’s not realistic is it?

    Meh.

It is kind of good in a way as he's a jack of all trades and master of none. We already have two of those in Hendo and Wij.

    In additional to Keita, I want us to get a holding mid that is;

    • A big mobile unit who has power in his game
    • Can screen the back 4
    • Is good in the air would be a bonus
    • Is good on the ball with simple passing

that person can play with Keita with a Cout or lallana or someone else in a three. We need to use this opportunity to buy well
“Do. Or do not. There is no try.”

Any player who can leave on a free will leave on a free rather than having to be sold. For Emre, this is a great position to be in.

As for Liverpool, the bigger problem is that we've persisted with Can for so many years rater than him leaving now.
