There's a tedious link on the BBC gossip site that we have expressed interest in bringing him back and that Messi of all people thinks he'll come here. Would you take him back at 33? I would for a minimal fee and play him in midfield or are his best days behind him?

Supposedly it's us, Juve and PSG who are interested, so y'know, unlikely.

Itís the press, tedious or tenuous, sometimes theyíre interchangeable.

Masch is a machine, if his legs can continue to motor on, heíd be a fine acquisition to the squad.

The clincher obviously is that Messi believes heíll come here.

Could we please set up a meeting between Edwards and Lionel - itíd be a done deal

Didn't he want to leave because his family weren't happy here? Unless he's acquired a new family I don't see him coning back

If there's any chance of him coming here we should make it happen.

Always a great destroyer, his passing and distribution were to be desired. But if you win the ball and immediately release to the the next player then it is easier. I actually prefer Can. Although Can's consistency needs to be produced on the pitch more regularly.

He'd be available on a free. In two minds about it myself, though I thought the same about GaryMac in 2000!

His time to be back here is well and truly gone. Yes I admit many players can contribute with great experience and desire but pests face it it would only be a stop gap. Let’s move on and build a team without returning to players at the end of their careers. Heart would love to see him back here but head says no.

Plenty of successful teams have made successful short term and stop gap signings.

I think it's the romance and memories that would make me fancy this deal, but to add in positions we're not rich in would be sensible.

Klopp has often said that he doesn’t want a specific DM, he wants the role shared so it will be Keita and another of such ilk. Thats not Masherano, nor Hendo. It could be Can should he grow up, or it will be someone else that he brings in that can do both roles.

I'd take him all day long. He's still good, and he's a born winner and fighter. We need people like him.

He's not getting much game time at Barca for a reason. That train has well and truely left. He was great player once but age has caught up with him.

I would only be interested if we sold Can in January and frankly it would be a stop gap until June only. But I donít believe that rumour anyway. Itís probably seeing if we might bite and so make getting countinho a possibility.

I'd take him on a one-year contract. He's a winner, and we need more of that mentality at the club. Wouldn't play him every week but he'd be damn useful to have around the place.

One of my favourite Liverpool players ever.

An absolute monster in midfield. It's a shame we never even attempted to replace him.

would you rather Henderson can and Gini take your pick there all harmless.
at 33 he would walk into our midfield it's a no brainer
