He is used completely differently. Weird how England managers pick players then tell them to do things differently to the reason they were picked in the first place

I hope Gomez is ready to do that against Neymar in the Champions League.

We have some good attacking players to come in though. A solid defence is a very good base to work with. Not sure who should sit though. Not really convinced in hendo or dier.

Quietly excellent from Joe Gomez in the last 2 games. Sure, he couldn't judge one cross to Jesus very similar to West Ham's goal. Played out the back surrounded by 3 German players when he got his yellow card, but other than that he's been impeccable. Especially tonight. Read the game so well, stepped out when he had to be tight. Dropped off when he needed to. He definitely is a CB and not a RB, but as long as he's playing that's invaluable experience for him. He is where John Stones was 2 or 3 years ago. There will be mistakes, but in a couple of years we will have some player on our hands.

He was really good tonight, he's inconsistent but there's something there for sure.

I'm sure he will, first he has to do it against the likes of Redmond and Hazard.

England are bang average, they will get bigged up by the press all season to the point that everyone expects them to win the World Cup then go to the finals and embarrass the nation once again. Seen it too many times with much better players unfortunately.

Hmm...played well but it did help having 9 or 10 men behind the ball...which doesn't happen here.

    No rush.

Nah, they donít get bigged up these days, took the media about 30 years to realise weíre pretty crap like but the last few tournaments have been low key in the media

He'd be playing there already if Clyne wasn't injured.

Wonder if Gomez may make the squad for the World Cup.

I guess Stones, Cahill, Jones and Maguire will be his first 4, maybe a 5th is needed playing 3 at the back, plus Gomez can cover at RB meaning he only needs to pick 2 RB's

If he's playing 3 man defence he'll take him. He needs 5 CBs.

id love to see gomez at cb but with the clyne injury it just wont happen. no way we can use TAA for the epl and cup games.

would legit have TAA first choice with MILNER as back up rb but thats a discussion for another time.

now for my aussies to bring it home tonight

This is why I continue to rejoice in the fact that the US didn’t make the WC... I won’t have to hear our US clown pundits run their mouths about them at all... It’s so amazing and I can’t wait!

Nah...play him. At least he has a future at the club. What's the point playing Lovren or Klavan? What dont we know about them already? Not like they arent/dont make the mistakes...

Always thought when listening to Hoddle co-commentating England games that he is a closet Liverpool fan.

Watched bits of the game along with the Ireland one and although it was another dull affair, all credit to England for another clean sheet.

Its these types of performances that shows we have some game management for the first time in years - yes, the attack was paper thin but the organisation is invaluable when you get to a tournament situation.

This is probably the Brazil XI that is selected for the World Cup and has received so much kudos over the last 16 months. To keep them out was no small feat.

Just watched the Ireland game. Always good to see that scumball Maclean looking like the loser he is. He is just a dirty and obnoxious individual.
