First leg of the World Cup European playoffs and a host of friendlies tonight. 19.45 kick off.

    Croatia v Greece
    Northern Ireland v Switzerland

Scotland v Netherlands game is the only half notable friendly. I also found it amusing to see Wales face Panama in a few days for a World Cup warm up match....for Panama

    Pretty impressive.

The comment below the tweet is great: "Would love to see an equivalent for England. David Nugent and Tom Cleverley fighting for captaincy of the 3rds"

Arguably the best squad internationally in the world. Yet they are still a bit **** and turgid to watch

Was close to shoving a fiver on France to win the World Cup outright. On paper you'd think they should do it, given the unbelievable quality of their squad. But Brazil and Spain just look better on the ball, despite having arguably weaker squads.

Aye I think it came up in chat a few weeks back, a lot of negativity around Deschamps and how he wants them to play

Does seem very rigid and relying on individual moments as opposed to a defined approach. A little like a set up not to lose type team, which as you say is poor really considering that squad, it has it all and should be going for it

Yeah it's unbelievable depth but like others have pointed out, other squads just work better.

Bad time now, but Wales and England at Euro 2016 were perfect examples, about 4/5 of those Wales players would have made the England squad, yet I'd say every player down to the England E/F team would get into Wales' squad, yet one got to the semis, one didn't.

Yep, its all about the collective and a system they all believe in, along with a manager

The likes of France and England have the individual players (less so now England) but they seem short on a system and common way of playing

So many examples of the opposite now in International football which I really enjoy, Wales as you say, Iceland, N Ireland, unbelievable achievements with so little in the way of squads. Its no accident with teams like Iceland who have put in fantastic work at youth level and building proper facilities etc.

Yeah, I mean we're 8 months early or so with the England failure debrief, but there just seems so much wrong at the senior level. Youth this last year has been incredible, but even when the U17s won the world cup pundits couldn't help but out the boot in.

Away from the mandatory jingoism, I doubt their players look forward to international games.

So many international breaks feature mismatches or games that mean nothing. I would rather they all take place in the summer and not interfere with domestic league schedules.

After they drew at home to Luxembourg I hastily retreated from my 'France are the ones to beat' stance. I'm sure they'll still be strong, but you just can't trust them not to choke.

So the plan is to shepherd Shaqiri into the box as he never scores from there.

You barely even see Wijnaldum play for country, he really is the complete passenger.

In a game where Holland are having 65-70% possession..you hear his name once

Is he starting for Croatia? How does he even get selected, Has Cacic actually seen any games we've played?

    Robertson doing really well..

Scotland with 35% possession but have created the only 2 real chances in the game.
