Yes, it was very all of those! I even saw myself in the queue for the Boys Pen that I hadn't seen before.

The one queue I really remember for the Boys pen was the semi final against Celtic. Grown men rolling up their trousers and trying to pretend to be young enough to get in. In the end there were some Celtic kids in there. What an atmosphere, what a night! Were you there that night as well?

Yes I was. I remember Geoff Strong scoring the winner with a header in the Kop end. I also remember bottles being thrown at the Anfield Road end. If I am not mistaken one of them hit the bar and shattered all over the 6 yard box. I could never understand why kids climbed over the fence to get in the Kop and be crushed . Happy days

Yeah, Strong was hobbling but of course no subs in those days. I can still see Strong heading that in at the near post. Clear as day!

The bottles thing was unbelievable. I remember Lawrence running out of his area to avoid all the bottles. I remember a Celtic player poked the ball in the net well after the whistle for offside and all the drunken celts thought it should have stood. Eejits.

Just watch it and agree with everything. Shankly made LFC and sincerely hope all the younger supporters appreciate that.

    Caught this the other night.

Brilliant watch. Well before my time, but even fans my age know all about Shankly and what he represented, which is testament to the impact and success he had here, as a man and a manager.

Also, there’s an excellent piece on the bbc website currently about Dalglish.
