True and a good ‘team’ know how to protect their weaknesses. That’s where we’ve had issues as a team, rather than help protect our weaker members we actually expose them. We also make them weaker by asking them to do something they’re weak at already rather than stick to their strong points.

Most teams have weak spots, the successful ones know how to protect theirs
True - but you also need players to be counted - thats why our fanbase liked players that worked hard - yes some need protection, yes some are luxuries and need carrying...

You have to expose them, coz you need to know what they are capable of.. but I agree our indecisions have cost us...

Fair enough, in which case you need to give them time to work on their weaknesses and fix them (at least try) if you like their other attributes. Maybe that’s what Klopp is doing? Where we (fans) only see the weaknesses and get annoyed, we want instant change, a good Manager would help the player develop that part of his game.

Doesn't work like that - this is all about the result - lose and you are out the picture..... Fewest mistakes wins....
I admit a good manager has to be a car salesman/entrepreneur guru/hypocritical politician/battlefield master to get through a season today

Thats why people talk about hitting the ground running

Well purple sprouting that he's the best thing since sliced bread

Is a liability regardless of 3rd 4th or 1st pick

But fans on here happy with him
    Purple sprouting ... Sliced bread ... ??????

If I understood what you meant with "purple sprouting" I might be able to respond with something more serious than:

I bet even with a computor you couldn't copy and paste a single quote from anybody that posted Klavan was "the best thing since sliced bread".

You really do behold to a BizarreHistory.

Klavan was brought in to be a CB sitting at home on matchday and getting the occasional benchwarming duty if somebody ahead got crocked. Additionally, if Herr Klopp decided to change the system to a deeper backline, he offered a decent benchwarming alternative. Given that, a great buy at the price paid. If van Dijk had arrived during the summer, he'd probably have been 5th choice CB at the club.

Sliced bread he is not. But, as evidenced in the last 3 games and many others, even when he starts it's hardly a case of the floodgates opening when they wouldn't have done so otherwise.

Will another CB come in during January? I bet the Club is sounding out the possibilities. I also bet that if the right player is available and meets Herr Klopp's requirements, an offer will be made.

Whoever thinks the managed isn't on the look-out for centre backs hasn't really got a clue. Of course he is. He won't settle for less than what he regards as better than we currently have though and won't settle for mediocrity.

We already know that a CB is on Herr Klopp's shopping list. Honestly, have you already forgotten about that?

Matip and Gomez is not the 'chosen' pairing. Have you ever seen Matip play LCB? The only time I've seen it is when Loven was pulled off at Wembley and Gomez switched from RB to RCB and Matip shifted left too. Matip never looked comfortable on the other side and they ended up conceeding 2 further goals.

As far as I can tell, Gomez was supposed to be Matip's back up this season. Of course that has all changed with Clyne's absence and Gomez appearing to be the safer/better bet than either Alexander-Arnold and Flannagan at RB.

Still, I should stop trying to discuss CBs with you fred as you are the expert of CBs and the level of quality the Club should be investing in (Huth, Fonte, Raniocchia etc etc.)

Most only want Centre Backs - the club historically has done little of late - There is a list of 5 freebies that we should be in for, but with us I doubt it

    Outs
Coutinho, depends on the the clubs stance and any agreement between Klopp and Coutinho
Can is wanted by Juve and Man City on a free
Salah is wanted by Atletico Madrid
    Ings is wanted

Bogdan - Flanagan - Brooks Lennon - Markovic - could all be shown the door

Is Ings ever going to get another game, or is he another Flanno- a player destroyed by injuries?

We only got a glimpse of some real possibility when Ings joined us.

A shame he hasn't had a proper run with the club.

Would be a real sickener to see a player about to enter his peak years join City on a free.

It would. And just magnifies the set up at LFC in an even more negative light. To lose Coutinho and Can next summer is very bad business in my opinion.

Zero control over the Can situation now. Phil? Would be pleasantly surprised if he lines out for us next season. We aren't exactly giving him reasons to stay right now. You can only use the long term project card for so long.
