not quite the same as what you are all saying but The cliched song “by far the greatest team” is thee worst song in history and unfortunately has crept it’s way into anfield in recent years .

Terrible generic English team song that really boils my blood

As they have qualified for a tournament - a story that is likely to appear in the next six to eight months that questions the cohesiveness or professionalism of the England team from a British newspaper. Next to a story stating some key player is doubtful for Russia 18 and the ensuing debate of should he go even though his first game is likely to be at least the quarter final.

I barely recall it being sang through the 90s and 2000s probably because we had half decent songs then

"And that's a splendid effort! By Mellor! In stoppage time to win it for Liverpool! You couldn't write a fairy tale like that!"

Actually Ian, you ******* well could. People can write about a magical young lad riding around on a broomstick at an invisible wizard school, they can definitely write about a club youth academy graduate scoring the winner in a big home game.

It is in fact one of the very few football fairy related tales to tell, local boy comes good..... it happens a lot and then they say that line a lot

"Oh you couldn't write a story like that unless you lacked any semblance of imagination..........and never ever heard of Roy of the Rovers........if you have, oh that was Roy of the Rovers stuff. It's how he dreamt it last night."

The cold midweek night at Stoke one, like every game you play will be there and that's why certain players may not adapt here and struggle. It's 1 game out of 38 and is likely not to be in one of the few weeks of midweek league games. You could be away to them on a warm August Saturday or a warm Sunday in May.

They’ve used it against Messi a fair bit in the past when it comes to adapting to the Prem.

Yeah because Mahrez can win POTY here, but one of the best players of all time would struggle.

I'm like that, I always love the commentary from the 1989 Cup Final for some odd reason, "Brilliant ball by Barnes, deftest of headers by Rush, steers it wide of Southall.."

    Just rolls off the tongue

    That makes three of us.

Barry Davies in 1977 for starters "That's nice, that's McDermott and that's a goal"

    Crowd noise reaching a crescendo....

YOU CAN'T!!!! A crescendo isn't a fixed point, but an increase in volume over a certain time. It's just that commentators don't like to say the (correct) word; climax!

    Yes agreed. It's a cancer.

The 'top top' escalation is also insane. I heard Lampard (sorry one of your Lampards) say that he knew Edin Dzeko was a top player, maybe even a top top player, but now he's showing signs of being a really top top top player. How is that acceptable?

The top top drawer has also been mentioned. Apart from anything else, what's so special about the top drawer? That's where I keep my pants and socks.

    Also:

"Harry, just how priceless was that winning goal?"

YOU CAN'T ASK HARRY KANE TO QUANTIFY PRICELESSNESS
