Voting for the BBC African Footballer of the Year 2017 has opened.
    • Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
    • Naby Keita
    • Sadio Mane
    • Victor Moses
    • Mohamed Salah

The five-man shortlist was revealed during a special live launch broadcast in London.

Cameroon's 2017 Africa Cup of Nations winner Arnaud Djoum was part of the panel to discuss the nominees, as were Nigeria's 1996 Olympic football champion Emanuel Amuneke and Jean Sseninde of Uganda's national team and Crystal Palace ladies squad.

The winner of this year's award will be announced on Monday 11 December, live on BBC World TV and BBC World Service Radio, starting from 17:35 GMT.

I know but he was part of the Nigerian squad who reached the World Cup finals and played a big part and he also won the Premier League title with Chelsea last season.

Still undeserving of the award though.

Biased shortlist all past, present or confirmed future Liverpool players. Only the first one isn't and that's not to make it obvious the list was made by a bias Liverpool fan.

False. If it was truly made by a Liverpool fan, Salif Diao would win by default.
No deal, no dice. Shot at and missed, **** on and hit.

No Diouf, because Pele voted him in the 100 players of the century and Gerrard and Carra were not in that list.

Yes. Totally agree as a Liverpool fan, but Salah was superb for Roma (why on earth did they sell him?!) and fabulous for Egypt and stunning for us as well. So for non LFCers might be a tad more difficult decision.

Voted for Salah a few days back. Talismanic for Egypt after a cracking season at Roma & not too shabby so far in red

Salah. Across the period he has been consistently outstanding for club (for 2 clubs across 2 contrasting top level leagues, no less) and country.
