Make no mistake, Burnley are a good, well organised side who can be extremely difficult to break down - they are not 7th in the table by chance, it is well deserved and down to their manager and hard graft and application. The fact that our heads never dropped after conceding the equaliser speaks volumes for the character Klopp is building in our side. When you take into account our 3 most influential players did not start (including Firmino in that) it makes this result all the more impressive.

Was reading a couple of posts from MikeNY in the post match thread and he made some interesting points .. most notably that when comparing this season to the last at match day 22, we are pretty much exactly where we were last season. What is important to take from that is that our squad was threadbare at this time last year, and you will recall Mane was away and we went on a very poor run in January 2017 .. this time around, Klopp has rotated like crazy, plus we have VVD to come in, Lallana is back and Salah and Cout will be back shortly too. There is no reason at all why we should see a repeat of the poor period we had, which augurs well for a Top 4 finish ( I believe we will finish 2nd, actually). I also can see us getting very far in the Champs League and actually winning it is not out of the question either - on our day (and our day comes a lot more frequently now then it has for a number of seasons now - in terms of consistency), we can beat anyone, and that includes the likes of Madrid, PSG, Barca and the rest. I believe our next league game will demonstrate this, as I genuinely believe we will inflict Man City's first defeat of the season on them.

Special mention to three players from last night for me .. after a slow start, Ox had a great game and took the game to Burnley constantly from midfield. Also, the much maligned Lovren had an excellent game, very dominant display, and so did Klavan. Ultimately, this win was down to the two CB's not giving up, and showing great motivation to get that ball in the net after the Ox's free kick.

Whilst this performance was not fluent, fast flowing football at it's best, it showed another - perhaps as important - quality .. that being the ability to dig deep and win relatively ugly, something we have been criticised for not doing in the past.

This was very much a defining moment in Klopp's managerial tenure here, I feel .. it made a strong point to the players, the fans, the media, the competition, everyone. Whether that point will be seen as such remains to be seen.

Last point - aside from Man City, there is no question in my mind that we are the team that everyone else does not look forward to playing against, and rightfully so.
    Good post my friend

Big mention for Ox, he was pivotal in both our goals I thought, for the opener he won the ball on half way with a good challenge, ran it then spread the play to TAA, then for the second it was his deep back post cross that set up Lovren and in turn Klavan.

So nice to see a squad forming here and getting results

Last two games we've had to really fight for those wins and we've done it, been buzzing more from those wins than the hammerings of Bournemouth and Swans

Gini just does not add anything to this team of ours and he is used far too frequently for my liking .. if ever there was a definition of a squad player, it would be him. He HAS to be the favourite to make way when Keita arrives .. don't want to be too harsh on him as he is still a Liverpool player but, by god, is he frustrating to watch. I have seen him have the odd influential game but, by my reckoning, that happens once in every 10 games, if that. That is simply not good enough for a team that wants to be challenging for titles.

Still, one gripe cannot offset the fact that we are looking seriously consistent at last .. what is it now - 13 games unbeaten in the league and 16 in all comps? Had we converted those three draws (Everton / WBA / Arsenal) into wins (and, with a little luck that could have / should have happened) we would now be comfortably in 2nd place and making Man City glance nervously over their shoulder (especially if we beat them in our next fixture).

    Keep it going, boys!!
So , how’s your membership issues going ? Or are you just skint ? Great results over the past few days . 6 points off two inform tough teams .

Hi welshy - yep, Ox was critical in the build up to the first goal .. have also been very impressed with him in the couple of interviews I have seen of him .. he really comes across as a very level headed and mature individual. And yes, we are getting a really competitive squad together for the first time in many years .. bodes well for the future.

Happy New Year to you and your wife! Hope 2018 is prosperous, healthy and happy for you!

Hi redhoops .. nope, membership issues still happening, cannot get past the error message I keep getting .. seems the only way to sort it out now is to open an new email account and then take out a new membership with a new nick and everything, lose my join date and post count and I am not willing to go to all that hassle to be honest. So I guess this is it for me now, unless I change my mind about it in the future. Frustrating to not be able to answer some posts in the paid football forums - especially those that are clearly knee-jerk type posts - but it is what it is.

Great results over the last couple of months, let alone weeks .. in fact, I would go so far as to say there have been a handful of disappointing results over the course of the entire season, with a great deal many more impressive results, something that is seemingly missed by many people in the paid football forum, what with calls for Klopp's head - or posters saying stuff like they would not be concerned if he left, etc. Very short-sighted, reactive and frankly stupid views, imo. We have had a really impressive festive season of results - as you said, against some tough teams - and it seems as though Klopp's rotation policy has paid dividends .. our squad should all be reasonably fresh for the last half of the season.

Just out of curiosity have you tried doing your membership thing on a different computer, or can't they just take a payment over the phone and grant you your access rights.....?

Then again I can't say I'm impressed with admin at the moment, specifically the NHS and how my mum has had a serious problem with her breathing since October, saw a doctor who sent her for an x-ray, then they gave her antibiotics, then did not a lot and she had to push to be told to make an appointment with a specialist which is not for another 2-3 weeks (earliest available, not like she could hold her breath if she wanted to do so waiting for some decisive action from the NHS) and so she's now followed up again, seen the doctor who sent her to the hospital where she's been for about THREE hours now.

I think they'd rather not deal with it, no one has taken any responsibility just referred it on like one of those calls we sometimes get at work where someone has been passed along lines and no closer to speaking to someone they wanted to, although our team is about the best single team you could get through to in terms of covering a wide range of matters and even being pretty f in good at a fair few of them. I've been there 8.5 years, don't know absolutely everything but I'd suggest would be in about the maybe top 3% of people if you could speak to someone who would be able to help, give some kind of advice (not that we're really supposed to give advice and guidance) and either sort it or make sure someone does

Maybe you just need to find the me equivalent at LFC, or maybe they're all a bunch of seasoned travellers

I have tried renewing my membership on multiple devices of mine (iPads / iMac) .. have tried on my wife's Windows PC as well as my PA's Windows computer .. even tried switching browsers on my iMac from Safari to Chrome. None of it worked. Also asked them whether I could pay via EFT and was told that the only way it can be done is via the website, no other payment methods accepted at all. Have exhausted all options open to me other then opening an entirely new account with a new email etc. Frankly, have given up and accepted that I will not have membership here again.

grenny why don't you call a new account grenny159 and we can put your +31,000 post count as your tag. Everybody would know who you are and you can post where you want. Having your own personal thread isn't really a long term solution

Are we even certain that he would be able to sign up for a new account.........? I mean how much difference can there be trying to renew an account and to create a new one?

It would be a new email address as each one can only be used for one account. If there is an unknown glitch in his existing account, he should be able to start a new one just like anyone else - in theory..

This squad has rather snuck up on fans I think, its got a way to go yet in terms of a GK, midfield, but so nice to see real genuine game changing options on the bench

Hi Jannno .. I am off to the coast on holiday tomorrow for the next couple of weeks so won't be around anyway and will give it some thought .. as things stand, am not keen to open a new email account for any reason whatsoever - I understand this thread is not a long term solution and will probably die a natural death sooner rather then later, not to mention the fact that it is hardly 'real time' if you get my meaning. 13 years, and 30k odd posts (and you can read whatever you will into the word 'odd' in that context ) on these forums was a good run anyway so it is all good.

Yep, I think that is very much the case with a lot of people .. having said that, from some of the responses and posts on the subject, it seems that some people have the misconception that, in order to win things, you need two world class players for every position - hence the frequent calls for players like Henderson, Wijnaldum, Karius, Mignolet, Milner, Can and others to be sold as they are 'the worst player eva to play for liverpool lol', especially after they have made a high profile mistake. Reality is that we have a very good squad now - 2nd best in the league imo - and the vast majority of our players have an important role to play, whether as a starter in most games or a squad player. As you said, even in last night's game without Salah, Coutinho, we still had some strong options from the bench.

I FULLY expect us to finish 2nd now and, with VVD, Keita and a couple of additional key signings in the summer, for us to challenge for the league next season. I wonder whether the posters (admittedly only a handful) who want Klopp gone, and a couple of select others who 'couldn't care whether he stays or goes', have in any way changed their view considering how the season has panned out so far .. I doubt it though as their ego's are too fragile to ever admit to being wrong about something. Just waiting for some of them who happen upon this thread to come in with the standard 'Klopp hasn't won anything at all so their views haven't changed' or words to that effect. I think most people know who those posters are and require no elaboration.

Hiya AUOS - Happy New Year!! May 2018 be a prosperous, healthy and happy year for you and your loved ones!

Got back from hols on Sunday afternoon and back to the grindstone yesterday.

Yep, a lot has been happening concerning LFC but the highlight has to be Sunday's game, what a performance. I honestly believe we are the second best team in the league and this result confirmed it for me .. I genuinely believe we will finish second.

Coutinho leaving was a disappointment but it is not a blow we cannot recover from. I think we will make 2nd whether we replace him in this window or not. Would like to see more quality brought in now but, if the right player is not available, then keep the money for the summer window rather imo.

I thought VVD was absolutely outstanding on his debut and, if he had played against City, I do not think we would have shipped 3 goals - certainly their 2nd goal should have been avoided and Karius should have done better on the first. We simply have to sign a top quality keeper in the summer. Also interesting to see that Can could well sign a new contract with us .. he is a good player and it would be a pity to lose him on a free, but he is replaceable.

You have long been saying how certain you are that Klopp will bring success to our club .. It is very hard to argue with 17 games unbeaten now, and 14 in the league (I think those figures are correct?). I can honestly say I fear no team, and that includes the likes of Barca, PSG etc. Bring them all on, I say .. An absolute highlight for me would be for us to be drawn against Barca in the Champs League, assuming we get past Porto which we should. There is not a single team in the world that I would like to see us beat more at this moment in time, and that includes the scum. Hate the way Barca go about doing their business - they have to be the most arrogant bunch of ****** out there. ****, would I LOVE for us to beat them and knock them out the Champions League.

Still haven't decided whether to renew my membership and lose my nick and post count, start date etc .. but, judging from a lot of the discussions currently being had in the main footie section, I don't think I am missing anything if I am being honest .. the more I am away from there, the less I actually miss it .. and, as more time goes by, the fewer posts I see that I actually want to respond to - even the ones from the usual knob heads. The match threads can be hilarious with the knee jerking and flip flopping, both about the team and individual players. More often then not, I find myself laughing at how so many posters get owned in there due to their dumb comments made in the heat of the moment. A veritable herd of ......

As you said in your post - interesting times, with a lot happening .. cannot wait for the next match against Swansea, am really enjoying watching us play!

    Herd of wildebeests?

    Yep, totally agree.

Good to hear you back, all the best to you and your loved ones for the year ahead also my friend, may Klopp have us fist pumping all the way to silverware.

Swansea next and hopefully a bag full of more goals and another 3 points.
